I hate these a**holes who think this is all a hoax. My mom got herself blocked on Facebook by a cousin of hers for telling her the truth about the virus when she posted a heartless rant about everything shutting down and blaming it on people with weak immune systems and thinking this was the governments way of taking away peoples success. Of course my mom got support for her comment too. My mom is hoping her cousin would come around and unblock her and re add her as a friend. We'll see.

Wonder what they will be know as?
History won’t judge them kindly.

I am at high risk just like grandma.

To me, me asking everyone to stay at home so that I don't catch the virus is absolutely ludicrous.

All those twenty somethings, that I will have no contact with since I am isolated, are being so irresponsible and weak and selfish towards me boo hoo hoo.

Give me a break, go back to work, go out and enjoy your lives.

I will be fine in isolation.

It’s not just about you,it’s about all the others. If you’re not worried than get out and mill around in a crowd if you so desire.
This isn’t forever.
Not every where in the US has top of the line hospitals and plenty of doctors.
There is no hospital in this county and only two doctors for 7,000 people. Many older folks with other health problems.
Ask the folks in New Orleans if this is a hoax.Ask the Italians.Ask New Yorkers.

Have fun reading this link:

https://www.epa.gov/pesticide-registrat ... sars-cov-2

It has a pretty lengthy list of disinfectants for you so you don't have to pay 50 bucks for a can of Lysol.

A can of lysol costs 50$?

Ok so we are judging all the twenty somethings, based on the actions of a few dumbasses that showed their stupidity on youtube or other social media? I guess all the older people are darwin award worthy because of that couple that decided to drink fish tank cleaner to keep the corona virus away.

At least that is what I would say if I was to adopt a similar attitude to that, Its not actually what I think. Also I have seen posts from people in their 20's here and on reddit that do take this situation just as seriously as anyone past their 20s.

Not all off them, the toilet girl and the selfish spring breakers. I don't see that many eighty years olds at spring break, or eating tide pods for that matter.
The beach will be there next year, peoples relatives might not.
Anyone who drinks fish tank cleaner is stupid.I believe I said that in a previous thread.

I don't think you got what I said. I represent all the others at risk. Where did you get the idea that I am not worried? From me saying I am in isolation? You see I would be in isolation regarding this virus, even if most everyone else wasn't, because I am worried about catching it, because it would probably kill me. And where did you get the idea I think it is a hoax? It seems like your mind is just running wild.

Lol running wild ?At my age? That takes too much energy.
You have mentioned getting out and about.Maybe you are in isolation now but you did mention being in a store in another thread.
You don’t represent the people here with crap medical care,I doubt there is even one ventilator in this county. You live in a city with excellent facilities. If you got it you would have better resources to survive.
I should have used a different word than hoax.

The tide pod thing is old news though, and that was teenagers not 20 somethings and well teenagers have always done stupid things in every generation. Still to my knowledge the tide pod thing as stupid as it was did not cause deaths.

And of course the toilet girl and selfish spring breakers are problematic, though certainly looked like there were some more middle aged people in that news clip also bragging about how they were out partying, so it wasn't even all just 20 somethings. I recall one woman in particular from the clip I saw of the spring breakers looked to be in her 40s.

I am just hanging out at home...might have to get out to walk in a state park or something. There is a stay at home order, but outdoor recreation is approved as a reason to leave so long as you keep proper distances from people camping and picnicking areas and visitor centers are closed but trails are still open. But yeah I at least plan to follow the stay at home thing as best I can.

When I was in stores I had a heavy duty mask on. But now I am not going anywhere, except brief walks out in the woods with no one around which still equals isolation.

Considering 95% of the people who get it have mild symptoms, how many in your county do you think 5% equals? And how many of those people do you think have a chance of getting it if they isolate and take all the precautions?

I live in a county that has one of the highest rates in the nation. The first case in the US was here. I think the odds of me getting it, considering the personal precautions being taken, are literally a million to one, with everyone here doing everything they did before the lockdown of people and shutdown of businesses.

I am not sure that I understand what shortening store hours accomplishes.
Just as many people need groceries, but with less time to shop, that puts more people in the store at one time, not less.
This afternoon I got really lucky; there were multiple packages of ground turkey available!
No eggs at all, but that has become normal.
For the first time: ONE box of Ritz Crackers!
I was able to get my favorite tomato soup, which were being grabbed as soon as they were re-stocked.
I never thought I would experience a time when I would go to the store and not get what I needed.

I agree. Shorter hours just means more condensing rather than the spreading out longer hours create. I always shop late because of less people in the store. Now if I went shopping it would probably be packed.

We have clueless people in their 20s spreading their germs on toilet seats and grocery items, these days. I was working at a factory job that I hated at that age and I stayed at that job. That girl who was on Dr Phil today was a complete airhead.

People have to get out and get groceries, medicine, animal feed, etc,,unless they have someone to do it.No fresh delivery of vegetables and most older folks don’t order stuff online. Some people will just have to venture out,if the store is out of what they they need, maybe several trips.
There's only one store, one nursing home, jail with inmates, and four low income apartment units full of elderly, disabled, and low income with kids. And TWO doctors, and one isn’t even full time.He is only here once a week.Basically only one of anything. It also takes an hour to get to the hospital, unless you use the helicopter, but there’s only one of them.It might get busy.Sometimes the ambulance is out on another call and you have to meet them on the road to hospital with the sick person.
So whoever catches it here would have to leave the county to be hospitalized. No hospital here, next county over and it serves multiple counties. So even 20 seriously ill from this county would be bad.It is in the counties next to me.Its just a matter of time.I hope that hot weather weakens it,who knows.
Our hospital got overloaded one flu season and people were piled up in the halls on cots.So if we couldn’t even handle that.....
I really hope it’s not going to be as bad as some predictions.
I’d love for people to be able to say “I told you it wasn’t going to be that bad.”
I really, really hope people get that chance.

If you are saying it is difficult for at risk people to isolate where you live, how is everybody isolating going to make it easier for them? I mean either way, the at risk people are still going to have to isolate themselves.

As far as handling the flu, last year there were 35 million cases of it in the US. The US is light years away from 35 million cases of the coronavirus.

Another thing I will say as while I certainly do not think the coronavirus itself is a hoax of any kind. I do think there are politicians, media and even experts, who are so anti-trump, they would try using the virus to unseat him. I think in their minds Trump is more dangerous than both the virus and massive unemployment.
