Senate unanimously approves year round Daylight Saving Time

I've always heard get rid of daylight saving time, not make it year round.

Clock change always messes up my Diabetes control, and normally means I get a cold.

If we have to stick with one or the other then I prefer the Summer standard, even if it means darker mornings in Winter. The extra light in the afternoons is more useful overall IMHO.

Having said that I'm in the UK which hasn't announced a change yet.

The justification for it here is that Farmers needed the extra daylight. But there is no extra daylight, there's still the same number of sunlit hours in the day whatever we do with the clocks. If they want to get up earlier or later why don't they, without messing the rest of us around?

i want all of america to stick to standard time if only for the reasons of avoiding pacific northwest darkness for much of the AM, as well as making it easier to cast horoscopes without having a welter of different local times to factor in.

Me too. I've been living slightly that way for years now...I leave as many clocks as I can in standard time, and let the automatic clocks do what they will.
But due to work/life/shopping/commitments/etc. I still have to change my sleep schedule and be aware of what time everyone else thinks it is.

We're only just now starting to adjust to the time change in my household...I still feel like I'm trying to "catch up", but the kid is at least sleeping a little better now. The stormy weather has helped a little bit, the thick clouds blocking out a good portion of the evening light at bedtime.

Same. I'm glad the time won't change anymore, but REALLY? Now we are always going to be an hour off from each of the same standard time zones used by Central and South America, while still being off from Canada and Mexico half of the year.

If people in states bordering Canada don't want to wake up before the sun then have fun playing around with the time,
but why does the rest of the country have to suffer? The subtropical & tropical states never benefitted from part-year or whole-year DST in the first place. Daylight hours don't change enough below 30 degrees latitude to justify it.

Dear Senate, leave us in Florida / Louisiana / Texas / Hawaii alone. We are tired of this.

It’s not law at this point. It still has to pass the House of Representatives and be signed by the President.

The bill was introduced by Senator from Florida Marco Rubio.

Waking up in the dark in winter is would be caused by year round Daylight Savings time and the effects would be more pronounced in the north then they would be in the south.

And last I heard, they're having a lot of issues with the bill.
