Morally I dunno. You might argue that it wouldn't be as morally bad as if she were a man of 29.


The thing is, she probably could have gotten away with dating HS juniors and seniors because most of them are already turning 18 and 19.

However, that wasn't she issue, the problem is that she was facing a mental health crisis and probably didn't know where to get help. Most women that age are beyond highschool, but careerwise, maybe being in a highschool setting is really her passion. If she wasn't dealing with that crisis, then maybe teaching in a highschool setting would have been. For example, she could have taught students to speak Korean.

Agreed. She is an attractive female and as such I don't think dating was her core problem. She was experiencing loneliness and likely yearned to return to a familiar environment she was comfortable with as a form of maladaptive way to cope with her predicament. Hypothetically if she was able to pass herself as a 18/19 year old then she would have some advantage over the younger students in terms of being more mature and a little more sophisticated but there again I am not sure if her intention was to manipulate the situation to her advantage?

When I was in highschool in the 1970s our catholic school permitted refugees from communist Poland to attend highschool to improve their English. At the time we were 16/17 year olds sharing the classroom with young men and women who were in their early 20s. The men in particular were filled out and towered over us. But they kept to themselves completely and did not interact with the school aged students not just because of age but also because they were not comfortable with English and unfamiliar with Australia so transitioning out assimilation/culture shock. In 2023 this would no longer be allowed.
