Hmmm... There are other ways than a 9mm or tazer for human beings to communicate with one another. :idea:

The question isn't, "Which way should the police assault me?", but "Should they assault me while I'm non-violent?" And the answer is, "No. They're my public servants. I pay their wages. So, no, they should not assault me while I'm being orderly within the bounds of my human rights -- which include not being thrown to the ground for no reason."

Hi Godwin...

Seriously, what is up with all these Nazi references? Whenever free speech is censored, the first thing that comes to mind is Nazism. Hitler was an ethnic cleanser. There is nothing involving ethnic cleansing going on in America. Racism maybe, but not ethnic cleansing. If anything, the more correct term is Stalinism... Stalin was a man who killed people for looking at him funny.

And how!
At one time I had a lot of respect for the LE community. Not so much anymore and this is not a conclusion I came to overnight. Not just what I see on the news but with our local LE agencies.
A lot of show and no go when the time comes to do something actually dangerous like intervene in a massacre. Virginia Tech and Columbine come to mind but there are other instances. They have all of this fancy hi-tech SWAT gear and training and when it’s time for the rubber to meet the road they stand back and wait for the bad guy to run out of ammo or people to shoot. “We have to asses the situation” they claim. Yeah, stand back out of range and behind hard cover and assess it until it’s conveniently over. That’s not just cowardice but negligence, too. Especially in their own community!
On the other hand they’ll bravely pile onto one college student or you and I during a traffic stop because they don’t like our attitudes.
And those drug raids when they hit a suspected house with 12 cops. Heavy with body armor that could defeat a rifle round, two weapons each, flash-bang grenades, and lights as bright as the sun. They study and choreograph these raids until they can do them in their sleep against a targeted house with maybe 2-3 armed (usually poorly armed and stupid) suspects. Then talk about how dangerous it is.
s**t, it’s more dangerous for me to drive 25 miles to work in the rain and traffic.

Rant over.

That's part of what vexed me about the video, is that most of the sheeple (sheep-people) were just standing around, ignoring the whole thing, as if they were in another dimension or something. You're right, the government has most people well-trained. That's us saying to the government, "Do whatever you want to us -- we'll accept it."

Yeah, that was the most disturbing part for me. I felt for the guy when he was yelling for help, and noone responded.

Quote:
I liked the part where, later out in the lobby, the female cop is shouting at the man to "CALM DOWN!! ! CALM DOWN!! !" while he's just standing there looking half-dead. She's the one who's screaming. And every time he calmly asserted his rights, she yelled back him, clearly angered that he wasn't being reprogrammed by this very abusive and traumatic experience. I hope he sues them for everything they're worth. Clearly, it's the only way to get through to them.

Youll probably find the charge sheet interesting reading, i think its the same female cop that did filled most of it out.

After reading the cops' report, it is obvious to me that the video doesn't show the entirety of what happened... this guy set out to make a spectacle of himself and get arrested... It doesn't seem like he was tased as a means of torture, but rather that he continued to resist and they did what they needed to do to get him under control... if those officers didn't have tasers, they would have had to club him with nightsticks.

I can also see why the bystanders did nothing, because they were there to see the entire incident play out, and didn't find anything illegal or outrageous about the cops' reaction.

Nah: not an acceptable option. :roll:

I don't know about that... he was a pretty big guy, they were in a crowded auditorium between rows of chairs, and the guy was flailing around... once they got him cuffed they had no problem walking him out of the building, but while he was actively resisting I doubt they could have carried him without risking dropping him and causing serious injury...

well, the guy was well enough to walk out of there, so i doubt he was injured at all... I hadn't heard that he was brought to the hospital or treated in any way, and he had the presence of mind to promote his website as he was being led out of there... Much better than being clubbed, which is what surely would have been done if they didn't have the tasers

Thats true, but read carefully the cops version of events that occurred in the timeframe that was recorded in the video(s) - they are highly subjective, often to the point of being wrong.

Im not suggesting that all contrasting events are concious lies, it could easily be their honest recollection of events (such is the unique way in which we all process reality and record memories)t

Also, I wanted to add a point about sheeple.

There is a class of people who believe that anything is right if it's done under the name of authority. Anything, as long as it's "official", "certified", or whatever. Such people respect power as if it is morality itself. They believe such things as: 1) everyone who is arrested is at least partly guilty, and that 2) whatever a person in a position of authority says should be submitted to and agreed with, because it is correct, since it was spoken by an authority. Such people often believe themselves to be free-thinking and open-minded, and would even laugh at the two definitions I just listed, yet whenever the state declares something, they immediately feel as if that particular thing has a brand new credibility to it -- simply because it has been declared by the governing body.

Again.. the reference to nazi america... is there because the removal of free speech is how such opression begins. To speak out against the state becomes a crime. To mock hitlers moustache became a crime. The poor sod didnt even get his questions answered.

And f**k godwin. I'll refer to whatever I think is relevant. The fact that hitler and nazis come up a lot is because its one of the most famous events to have occurred in living memory, if not ever. We could reference someting obscure, but no one would get it. To be disallowed from using a GLOBAL CONFLICT and the most infamously oppressive regime ever in conversation simply because of some dumbass internet convention is foolish, stupid, and, given the context of the thread, just a teensy bit oppressive of free speech.

The clips of the tasered student brought to my mind this poem, attributed to a German pastor, about his experience living under the Nazi regime:

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

When people get abused by the police/government, most people say to themselves, "Oh, it's just one of those guys, who must've been up to no good. I'm still safe, because I'm good." But we saw from dictatorships like the Reich what eventual and total destruction silently turning a blind eye to injustice leads to.

I don't know, but I'd say Death! is rather a long-term effect...
(It's not a solitary case either, like that wheelbound old lady they tased to death just last week)

Besides, if a bunch of strong people held me down for no reason and one of them aimed a taser at me and I'm not much of a security risk, I think I'd probably also kindly ask him not to shoot me. Wouldn't you?

non-lethal.. yeah ok.. its PROBABLY non-lethal. I swear these goons will use any excuse to run volts through people.

Incidentally.. its not always actually possiblt to "remain calm" when some fat thug is sat on your ass bending your arm out of what to get cuffs on it. If the human arm is turned in the right direction, the body HAS to follow, or it tears muscle and eventually breaks. Having some rentacop fatass sitting on you breaking your ARM is not conducive to being still, or quiet AT ALL. Nor is just sitting there whilst you watch them pull a tazer on you. It is a NATURAL INSTINCT to resist being attacked, and these cretinous goons could well do with learning a little more about human psychology and physiology. But they wont. Especially mallcops, bouncers, campus security, and all the other dipsticks who were too crap to get into the REAL police. I am aware of what it takes to get a license to act as security in the UK, and frankly. its BUGGER ALL. Be large and intimidating is the be-all and end-all. I very much doubt that the US is any different in its requirements.

And to those who think its non-lethal.. go jam your fingers in a socket for a while, see hoe "non-lethal" it feels.. because its about the same, but theres no guarantee they are going to STOP.

(yes, I have electrocuted myself, and been sat on by security, etc etc.)
