And be thankful you're not supposed to have one, either.

I thank the powers that be often that I do not have a penis! How you guys manage dealing with one all the time is beyond me.

When I first read the title and the initial post, I reacted the same as everyone else here. I'm a woman, but I have a superfocused (natural) fear [read: phobia] of losing body parts. Sometimes my arm rubs against my body and I have to stop and concentrate on the feeling and thank God that I still have all my parts. (For some reason, these days I've come across a lot of people with things missing...)

But then, the story reminded me of my neighbor telling me her story when she went in for a mastectomy two weeks before I moved in and met her. She said she had been given two choices: either they do the biopsy and then wait for her to wake up and hear the results of the tests and then go under again in--I don't know, maybe two weeks--to remove the breast. The other choice is to do the biopsy, have it tested while she's still under and if it is determined to be malignant to go ahead and remove the breast. She chose the latter because the biopsy could aggravate the cancer and make it spread to other sites before the mastectomy could be performed. So, she didn't know going in what she would wake up with (or without). She described feeling the bandage upon coming to and knowing from how big it was what had happened.

I don't know how I typed that... I have such a medical phobia. I think my hands are numb. As far as the original case in the article goes, it may be that there was some kind of mix-up in the doctor's understanding of the patient's choice, and considering the patient's reaction, and without knowing any other details, malpractice of some sort would seem likely, I suppose. I just thought this might help people understand how such a thing could feasibly occur.

I've been recently helping a friend whose father had major surgery to have significant portions of his abdomen removed, and I don't think that if--God forbid--I was diagnosed with cancer I could have a part of my body removed. I think I'd try holistic treatments of some sort and if that didn't work, die. There's just something so unthinkable about most conventional cancer treatments.

we can urinate when standing up. We can use the bathroom quicker. We can have sword duels (not really :P) that's an advantage...and apparently Freud's Penis envy theory isn't completely true.... :(

But the bad thing is you guys have to deal with blue balls and when you accidentally sit on it, it hurts and it can feel uncomfortable when your underwear pushes it against your body. That's why some men wear boxers. Some wear nothing under their pants.

all you need is good kegle muscles to pee standing up. I lived in Hawaii, and when I went to the bushes to squat and pee the local ladies laughed at me and stood up and showed me how. They taught me how to direct the stream and how to push the kegel muscles to make the flow strong and even how to use my fingers (sanitarily) to direct the stream. I have kept up the kegel muscles ever since. Sometime in the bathroom, say at work, I hear the dribblings in the next stall and let off with a strong and steady stream. Occasionally the curious ask, but all I can think of is how much they are missing out with their boyfriends by not having strong clasping muscles the kegels give ya'.

Getting back to the original topic of this post, if this happened to me I would kill the doctors then kill myself. Harsh yes, but I would find life so not worth living that that's what I would be driven to.

Are you implying that sexual gratification is the only thing which makes life worth living? And you would commit murder and suicide over this one aspect of life? That sounds pretty shallow to me.

It's not just sexual gratification. There are things, like being able to urinate normally. But even that is not the whole thing, being paralyzed from the waste down would be horrible but something I could adjust to. But having no penis would make me feel like a horrible hideous freak. It would be better to have a penis and no testicles (which I believe is how it was with Eunuchs, and I know that's the way it is for neutered male pets). Having no testicles will get rid of sexual desire, but having testicles and no penis means having sexual desire but no way to relieve it. It would almost be better to remove the testicles too once the penis was removed, though that would be sickening and horrifying in its own way (being like a Ken Doll with a hole -shudder!)

Yeah eunuchs don't have no testicles. Well at least he has his prostate right I mean there is hope for some relief.

this is really interesting. I have pretty good kegle muscles but never thought I might use them for peeing standing up! this is going to make my life so much easier...

well, this is not for peeing in public restrooms, nor at home bathrooms, either. they just are not built for it.
but out side, go for it! You might want to PM me for how to use your hand/fingers for directing the stream.

I see your point, archdude, it would definitely suck to have a libido with no means to satisfy it. However, as for being a "hideous freak," nobody will ever know unless you show them.

But you will know, regardless of who you show. And I have never heard of a dickless man brimming over with confidence.

you don't know a damn thing about me, slowmutant, I think we can agree on that.

Merle, you wouldn't understand. Unless you're post-op ...

If I were post op, I would have the same opinion, and really think that 'it might be nice' not to be in the wrong sexed body.

but it is cute to see you so frightened of it all. . .
