No seriously. I have to put up with the tripe published in the Otago Daily Times. They do their utmost to make sure no news from outside Otago sneaks into their paper. I have to read the Herald for real news. I would love a regular Dominion Post supplier.

I agree with familiar_stranger, suicide, and emo culture as a whole, is generally used to get attention nowadays, not because they actually ARE depressed or DO feel like they would take themselves at some point. To me suicide is the most serious thing in the world and should never be taken lightly, so seeing ads like this really aggravates me.

hmm.. i feel personally insulted by those ads now... i've attempted suicide before, it's nothing to make fun of, it's a serious problem, and making fun of it doesn't help :(

Not sure if this is a reply to my post, I am curious actually, I wanted to see the ad, out of curiosity, but I couldn't find it on youtube.

That's kinda disturbing.... At least it's more interesting than super boring ads though. And look at all the publicity it's getting their product!

i have the same thoughts with the majority of what i read or watch, it's only human to want to know as much as you can about everything.

as for the advert i think it's just the picture and intended for magazines or something similar.

Or one of those big building ads. Can you imagine seeing one of these draped down the side of a building on your way to work?

most adverts are all about the subconcious, there was one magazine advert where a girl had three legs, looking through the magazine more people wouldn''t realise it but it would play on their mind, along with the brand of alcohol they were advertising.

suicide is a serious issue and so seeing the advert will make most people think seriously towards diet pepsi, in time people will forget the advert but remember they had a strong oppinion for/against it and so they'll be more inclined to buying the product.

Or not so, as might be the case here.

I can only imagine an ad that could have been worse: "Coca Cola, the official soft drink for the suicidal", and you see a picture of a teenager who slit her throat using a shard of glass from the old glass Coke bottles. Urgh. Makes the Pepsi one seem kinda tame.
