There is no reason that marijuana should be illegal other than it funds the drugwar scam. Pot is less harmful than alcohol, nicotine, caffeine and most over the counter meds. I wish they would legalize but unfortunately they probably never will.

Lol, they won't cause your statement is BS.

Nope, try again. There are deaths each year from alcohol, nicotine, OTC's, and even a handful from caffeine. How is it BS?. Never been one recorded death from marijuana alone.

Haha, that old one. I feel safer drinking a cup of coffee than I do smoking a joint. I wouldn't say caffene made me suffer bad anxiety and paranoia, or made me go onto harder drugs. If you want to sit around being a dribbling, lifeless zombie, thats up to you.

Well, it *can*, depending on the individual. 3-4 cups of coffee according to Wikipedia's toxicity listing should be enough to cause caffeine intoxication (wait... so pretty much I'm intoxicated 24/7...w00t) although it would apparently take something on the order of 70 cups to kill someone my size. Although hospitalization may be necessary somewhere around 2 grams I think, which corresponds to around 15-20 cups of coffee. Presumably the psychotic symptoms would kick in before that. College students with deadlines - beware!

Just because pot is more mind altering doesn't mean it is any more dangerous. Facts prove there has never been a recorded death from pot OD. BTW, pot doesn't make you go on to harder drugs. Since it is illegal, the same people who deal pot deal harder drugs. Legalizing it would change everything.

Na.

It turns people into vegetables though. Its sad to see so many young people getting into the habbit of smoking it. We're only young once, we can smoke pot at any stage in life.

Never heard a case of it turning people into vegetables either. I know it can make them kinda lazy, but not paraplegic.

I've seen it. And it changes people, and they also become dependant on it. Strong drugs make us lose our buzz for life.

Yeah drugs are for old people. When you have lotsa damage and lotsa aches and pains. I'm not keen on young people and drug use, but that's where I started. I gave up for 10 years in my 30s because it was making me too uh unambitious, you dream your life away, rather than live it. I'm all washed up now at 51, so I've taken it up again. That's one of the things that struck me on my only overseas trip, in 3rd world cultures, it's mostly the oldies who take drugs. You see all the oldies chewing betelnut, but the young people don't do it.

False.
Only because of human nature... If people see no need to move, they won't.
It has different effects on everyone as each person's mind functions in a unique and special way,
It makes me wildly imaginative with an ammunition of endless creative ideas.

Should they legalize it much in the way that tobacco is legal and allow it's use for manufacturing products like we(The USA) used to before 1937? Yes. Will doing so stimulate the economy? It certainly couldn't hurt.

The Real Reason Hemp is Illegal

YES!! ! This is the business model I'm "proposing". Just because we legalize something doesn't mean everyone's growing it and smoking it willy-nilly - and the whole world suddenly looks like an Amsterdam/Haight-Ashbury lovechild. :colors:

There are very strict commerce rules regarding the manufacturing and sale of alcohol. You can't just start distilling your own vodka and selling it on-line. We still have moonshining laws. You can, however, brew your own beer. But it takes work and practice and the output isn't going to compete with the commercial beer brewers.

There are also very strict laws about underage drinking, drinking and driving, drinking in public, drinking on the job, etc. etc.

Now on the economic side, since marijuana can be grown easily and cheaply, we can better manage the agribusiness with a commodity model like corn. Doing so would diversify and increase agricultural output. (For the Americans here - feel free to hum "amber waves of grain" right here.)
Image

And like corn, "pot" has a wide range of by-products that could be turned into fuel, material, chemical, etc.

On the environmental side, illegally grown marijuana is extremely damaging to the earth as the criminal growers use ungodly amounts of fertilizers to increase output and decrease growing time. The costs of the clean-up to our soil and water supply is unknown.

Legally - the war on drugs is one the biggest drains on our judicial and law enforcement system. When the state of California is considering letting go almost half their prisoners because they can't afford to keep them incarcerated - would you rather have a pothead or check-kiter on the loose? A pothead or a repeat DUI'er? A pothead or a habitual shoplifter?
Image

And finally, good old homeland security. They just put a travel advisory our for college kids in the SW states for Mexico over spring break. All in repsonse to the border drug wars. While we've been chasing our tails and stirring up hornets nests in the Middle East and Central Asia -there's a REAL war going on along our border. It's spreading like wildfire into our border states like Texas, Arizona and New Mexico.

It's terrifying s**t and if we legalize pot we will put those a-holes out of business. Cocaine? We'll save that for another day - personally I think cocaine sucks. Ditto on heroin.

MOSTLY fueled by the illegal marijuana trade. Image

Yep exactly. But 51 doesn't mean you're washed up. Give that stuff up, get your fitness back and make some goals.
