The propaganda is blatantly clear;

"We are Mother Teresa, they are Adolph Hitler".

It was all lies designed to swing public opinion to the right...

So for the umpteenth time what is being said is, that the left is just like the right. What the hell kind of defense for the left is that supposed to be?

The welfare mother scam is probably impossible to get around since children are being used that way. But it goes to show the lenths people will go to to get a free ride. Maybe after the kids are grown the parent(s) should be required to start paying the money back.

It's easy to accuse poor people on public assistance of scamming the government by using their kids. That doesn't mean they are scammers or moochers. And pay the money back? How? They're indigent.

It is easy because it happens.

I don't doubt there are people who abuse the system, but only the poor and needy get accused of it more than anyone else.

Only the poor and needy get accused rather than the actual perpetrators. That sounds like nonsense.

You and cyberdad seem to be the ones constantly lumping the two together rather than the ones you are arguing with. While simultaneously falsely accusing the ones you are arguing with of lumping them together.

Because the right has always accused the poor of being lazy and cheating, regardless how real their poverty is. Despite all the right's talk about how they care about the truly needy, the number of those they see as truly deserving keeps shrinking.

I am not defending anything. I am separating fact from fiction.

However I am not sure if I want to take the time to fact check every article you pluck.

Okay. It’s false. And they shouldn’t misrepresent things like that.

But kids still shouldn’t be separated from parents at detention centers.

If Obama did this, it’s just as wrong.

I truly wish people would put themselves in the refugees’ shoes. Most are not criminals. Most are seeking a better life. Iwish people would stop lumping the refugees together and calling them common criminals.

What would YOU do if you were in their situation? Do you think they want to be uprooted from their homes?

If it's scripted, then I want the copyright as I came up with it. I am a writer, after all.

Nobody ever said that ALL poor people have 6 illegitimate kids, by 6 different men, then refuse to identify the father on the birth certificate so that the government has no recourse to recoup the welfare money to support them. I listed it as an example of why qualifying for welfare is often theft, or the next best thing to it.

This is a well thought out and perfected scam.

I can tell you that if I was going to be poor, the very last thing I would set out to be was a parent. But, misery loves company and some people have kids with absolutely NO intention of raising them. Has anyone defending this type thing spent a significant amount of time in poor neighborhoods? My husband and I lived in E. Gainesville, Fl., for the first 10 years of our marriage. Babies filthy, diapers dragging, no supervision, probably hungry... and probably benefiting very little from a check that has been assigned to them. But because they are 'poor' and qualify, a check is sent off into space where half of it is probably deposited each month into some prisoner's commissary account somewhere. You have absolutely no idea the complexity of where these funds go and the kids are getting fed at school (which is a good program) because parents can't be counted on not to trade out their EBT funds at 50 cents on the dollar, for drugs. But, they 'qualify.'

Do I think all people on public assistance do this? No... I'm sure there are some very good poor people who would never dream of doing that. But, there are enough that this lower, middle class white girl not only knows about it, but has come in contact with it in the drug world (for those that do not know, I'm 6 years the other side of an opiate addiction). The average person has NO idea the scams that are out there.

Y'all act like every 'poor' person is the equivalent of the blind man at the city gates, begging for alms. They're not, some are very sophisticated, with bad intentions.

Thank goodness the others are Mother Teresa and Jesus Christ rolled into one. I know that because they keep lauding themselves as such every 5 minutes.

Still...my statement stands for the 70% (or probably more) who are genuine family members.

There’s a conservative bent to the Washington Examiner’s coverage.

This is like saying that there shouldn't be a security check at the airport because most people aren't carrying bombs. And it was 30% of suspected families that turned out not to be related. There's no telling how many manage to get by without suspicion, so the actual proportion may well be higher. I don't know about you, but I think child traficking is worth cracking down on, especially since that particular brand of organized crime has grown explosively in I Think it was Tijuana following the border crisis.

No...I don’t advocate trafficking in children.

Like I always said, I believe in close monitoring of immigrants and asylees...in an Ellis Island sort of situation.
