FBI, NYPD told Capitol Police about possibility of violence before riot, senior officials say
The previously unreported details undercut the assertion by a top FBI official that officials had no indication that violence was a possibility, and they add to questions about what intelligence authorities had reviewed before the Capitol riot, which led to the death of an officer and four other people, including a rioter who was shot and killed by police.
But there were ample indications of potential violence.
NBC News has reported that a digital flyer made public on Instagram and Facebook last month referred to what would happen as "Operation Occupy the Capitol."
On the fringe message board 8kun, which is popular with QAnon followers, users talked for weeks about a siege of the Capitol.
"You can go to Washington on Jan 6 and help storm the Capitol," an 8kun user said Tuesday, a day before the siege. "As many Patriots as can be. We will storm the government buildings, kill cops, kill security guards, kill federal employees and agents, and demand a recount."
Daniel J. Jones, president of Advance Democracy Inc., a global research organization that studies disinformation and extremism, told NBC News in a story published the day before the riot: "In regard to the protests planned for Jan. 6, the violent rhetoric we're seeing online is at a new level. There are endorsements of violence across all of the platforms."
How could the FBI and other agencies have missed all that? It turns out they didn't, officials said.
"Prior to this event, the FBI obtained credible and actionable information about individuals who were planning on traveling to the protests who expressed a desire to engage in violence," the senior FBI official said. "The FBI was able to discourage those individuals from traveling to D.C."
The official added that "the FBI and our federal, state and local partners collected and shared available intelligence in preparation for the various planned events."
The FBI official said that by dissuading some extremists from traveling to Washington, the bureau may have prevented an even more violent situation.
New York police, who have the most robust intelligence collection and analytical arm of any local police agency in the country, sent law enforcement agencies across the country — including Capitol Police — an intelligence packet describing threats and violent rhetoric on social media in the weeks and days leading up to the rally, multiple senior law enforcement officials said.
The officials said Capitol Police were given a specific and separate intelligence report describing extremist rhetoric and threats of violence that appeared on social media in connection with the rally.
It wasn't just police agencies that issued warnings. A private intelligence report issued in December, obtained by NBC News, said the "'million-MAGA march' in Washington DC on 6 January is the next major flashpoint ... the mass event (which will be held in the National Mall and outside the Capitol) is likely to spark street violence, some of which may be lethal, between Antifa and Trump supporters or far-right groups."

Absolutely staggering...they beat and trampled cops and yet the police officers were kindly opening doors and blowing kisses??
Imagine if these were black males beating cops. Horrible double standard.

Alex Jones claims he funded rally that led to Capitol chaos
Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones claims he put up nearly $500,000 to mount President Trump’s disastrous speech Wednesday in Washington, DC — and was asked by the White House to lead the subsequent march that devolved into a riotous siege of Capitol Hill.
“No one would book the Ellipse, no one would book the other areas. No one would pay for it. We went and paid for it,” Jones said in a video posted to his InfoWars website Thursday and reported by The Independent.
“Thank God a donor came in and paid like 80 percent of it,” he went on. “Because it cost close to half a million dollars, with all the equipment, all the stages and the rest of it. Port-a-Potties, you name it.”
Jones did not name the anonymous benefactor — but he did shed light on an initial plan to have the Secret Service escort Jones through the gathered Trump supporters so he could head a procession to the Capitol.
“The White House told me three days before, we’re going to have you lead the march,” Jones said.

Army probing officer Emily Rainey who led group to deadly DC riots
Capt. Emily Rainey, 30, confirmed to the Associated Press that she led more than 100 people to Washington, DC, on Wednesday as part of a North Carolina protest group she heads called Moore County Citizens for Freedom.
While her commanders at Fort Bragg are reviewing her involvement in the rally, Rainey said she was fully up front about her plans to go — and insisted her group was not involved in storming the Capitol.

The PBS NewsHour/Marist poll found 51 percent of Republicans believe Trump bears no responsibility at all for the storming of the Capitol; and another 17 percent of Republicans said the president is “not very much” to blame for what happened. Democrats answered very differently, with 96 percent saying the insurrection was Trump’s fault; 62 percent of independents agreed.
YouGov found something similar, with 69 percent of Republicans saying the president was either not at all or not very much to blame, and 90 percent of Democrats saying Trump holds “a great deal” of the blame.
Instead of placing the insurrection at Trump’s feet, 52 percent of Republicans told YouGov that it was actually Biden’s fault; 42 percent of Republicans told Morning Consult the same — and 48 percent of Republicans told Morning Consult that Democrats in Congress were also to blame.
There has been a lot of talk that the storming of the capital was event that afters years of wrong predictions of “this is the moment Trump went too far” would finally crater Trump’s support. All of the social media that dropping him is a indication of the belief that these companies believe the public thinks he went to far this time. If these polls are correct the conventional wisdom is incorrect and it would be unlikely the Senate would vote to convict despite being the target of the attack. It is also suggestive that business will become more like media, there will be businesses that cater to MAGA America and business that cater to blue America.

Let's check the history....
A teenage Trumpster crosses state lines to kill BLM protestors.
A group of rightwing twits plot to kidnap, and presumably kill, a governor over COVID-19 precautions.
An unhinged "conservative" nutcase with a van full of child porn makes clear his intent to assasinate Biden.
That's not to mention Trump's inflammatory rhetoric for the past four years. All of this hand-waved and dismissed, and the blame shifted to BLM activists who were protesting against police violence agaisnt POCs (which is apparently the same thing as forming a mob to lynch the vice president and taking a huge sh_t on democracy).
The mask has slipped. So much of what has been tauted as "conservatism" is just fascism. It's especially entertaining after being on WP after the 2016 election and listening to non-stop chatter about the "degeneracy of the left." Will people ever learn? Only time will tell.

And we need to protect their right to plan terrorist plots online.

Just a reminder: under international law, an occupying power has no right of self-defense, and those who are occupied have the right and duty to liberate themselves by any means possible.
And don't forget that anyone that warned and criticized the president were labeled as bullies and calling him a Nazi or comparing him to Hitler was calling Trump supporters a Nazi.
Now look what it has come too? Anyone still want to support him?

Been there, got the warnings to prove it.

We used to have that fox member here who was always harping about people calling him a Nazi. I at first was like "who has called him one, who is calling him one, I haven't seen it" and then I realized he meant people who criticize Trump and call him one and somehow that implies him as well.
