The media does a great job of painting pictures. When people hear about this and they hear Asperger's they will get the idea that all AS people are rapists. Well not all people will think that, but too many will.

Most people with an inkling of intelligence are able to distinguish rape from consensual sex. Hopefully people will come away from this realising that their kids could benefit from a good talk about sex, rather than punishment when they act out on their natural curiosity.

You know, biologically, these kids may have been ready to be having sex. At tweleve the girl may have had her first period and so her body would be hormonely gearing towards sex. And obvioulsy something similiar for the boy. I really don't know why the powers that by get so ridiculously het up about such ordinairy things. I suspect that thousands or kids are doing similiar things at this age all over the conntry, because thats actually quite normal.
Obviously there are other issues, like STD's or pregnancy, but telling a 13 year old boy he's a rapist for something he and presumably his girlfriend did, because they wanted to and because, presumably, they were curious and getting older, is just stupid.
Poor kid.
I also suspect plenty of under 16year olds all round the country think its stupid too. After all i really doubt any kid is not going to fool around with their gril/boy friend because of the law, i don't know anyone of my friends who paid attention to such things.
Feelings are feelings after all and very hard to fight.
What's wrong with more information on safe sex and explainations of what healthy relationships are and stop prosecuting kids for their experimentations.

50 years ago this stuff made sense, nobody is ready to be a parent at 12 years old and speaking of parents, why was a 11 year old girl left alone with a boy. The only ones guilty of anything are the girls parents or another adult if her parents thought their child was being supervised by somebody else who accepted the responsablity.

guys are dogs and only a moron would leave a dog alone with a steak,to expect kids not to do nothing with the way TV is today is laughable at best.

Those childrens private lives shouldn't be a media spectacle and their parents should have just explained to them about birth control and the STD dangers of multiple partners.

The charges against this boy are just sick. Actually its insultive to anyone who truly has been raped. The article said it was consentual sex so in no way is that rape. Rape is about mentally or physically overpowering another indivdual. This sounds more like a couple of horny pre-teens experimenting. The fact that the boy has AS should not even be mentioned as it is irrelevant to the whole situation and is as if the media is trying to portray AS as rapists. If anyone is to blame its the media for oversexualizing kids and the food industry for loading foods with hormones that make kids mature even faster. Actually its laughable that they would even label two clumsy kids playing around as sex. It probably lasted about 30 seconds anyway. If that is the law in his country if it were enforced millions of people would have to go to jail because so many start experimenting with the opposite sex around that age.

Statuatory rape to me means when an old Mormon guy has sex with a 15 year old girl.

this is kind of stupid.. why is the boy being punished if the girl said it was ok(ok i looked back and that was explained already in other posts) and the girl is one that lied to police. the girl should be punished more then the boy because lieing to police is more of a crime consensual sex with someone

I think that they did not need to mention the boy was Autistic. I don't see why they feel the need to stir the pot, seems like the writer is just trying to antagonize the Autism community."Oh, the poor girl was taking advantage by that ret*d monster!"
