In Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39, God uses the Israelis who are wielding "insane weapons" to save them from an overwhelming invasion force. :P

Sounds like they could hijack the Bible to pursue their agenda. Maybe it would be wise to do it in 2012 so they can convince people that are caught up in the Mayan prophecy that it is their destiny to destroy the ME.

Most of the prophecies about Armageddon are probably conditional prophecies which means that these events may or may not happen. These prophecies should be considered as a warning of a possible future nightmare but nevertheless a nightmare that can be avoided.

Unfortunately religious fundamentalists see this nuclear Armageddon in the Middle East as a prophecy that is guaranteed to happen or else that means the Bible is a lie.
So the religious right becomes opposed to a Middle East free of nuclear weapons and the right champions a nuclear war in the Middle East so that Bible prophecy can be fulfilled.

The reality is that a majority of Jews and even Muslims do not want this nuclear holocaust and would support measures that would rid the entire middle east of nuclear weapons.

Although the religious right claims that pacifism will get us all killed the reality is that this is far from the truth. Israel would still possess a military equipped with conventional weapons and might even be allowed to expand its borders since they no longer pose a nuclear threat to the region. Remember Israel has won all of its wars using only conventional weapons but no doubt the first war that Israel will lose will be a nuclear war because millions of lives will be lost even if Israel still survives.

For all their talk of literalism, fundamentalists are far from being the holders of the truth. Literalism draws away from what was actually meant in the holy books.

If God gave the world a manual on how to operate a nuclear power plant without melting the damn thing down, the fundamentalists would meltdown the power plant just to prove that the operating manual is true.

It's the psycho's in charge that think they have some sort of destiny, or want to plan the destiny of the people they rule over.

The religious right believes that if they start a nuclear war then Jesus will come to intervene and destroy their enemies. The radical Muslims believe that if they start a nuclear war then the Imam will return.

I personally would not want to face Jesus if I was criminal enough to start a nuclear war. But I suppose a religious fundamentalist who starts a nuclear war will expect Jesus to tell the "Well done my good and faithful servant".

Britain threatens military action against Iran

Quote:
Britain has issued a stark warning to Iran saying that any attempt to block a key trade route in the Gulf will be met with military force from the Royal Navy.

Leon Panetta warns Iran to keep Strait of Hormuz open

Quote:
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta warned Iran on Sunday that any attempt to carry out its threat to choke off the world’s oil supply by closing the Strait of Hormuz would draw a quick U.S. military response.

“We made very clear that the United States will not tolerate the blocking of the Strait of Hormuz,” Panetta said. “That's another red line for us and that we will respond to them.”

Panetta admits Iran not developing nukes

Quote:
U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta let slip on Sunday the big open secret that Washington war hawks don’t want widely known: Iran is not developing nuclear weapons.

Appearing on CBS’s Face the Nation on Sunday, Panetta admitted that despite all the rhetoric, Iran is not pursuing the ability to split atoms with weapons, saying it is instead pursuing “a nuclear capability.”

That “capability” falls in line with what Iran has said for years: that it is developing nuclear energy facilities, not nuclear weapons.

Explain why the Muslim crazies have not made war on Israel in a major way since 1973. I think even the Muslim Crazies are not fond of being killed, and even worse, being humiliated on the field of battle.

If deterrence is so effective then why does Israel want a war with Iran?

The Americans have made a grave mistake for not exploiting and not giving any backup for the green movement's revolution (the huge 2009–2010 Iranian election protests) , they could help the opposition to topple the regime without a world-scale war.
