Women's soccer is so hot. I basically missed anything that would have taken me away from the TV today. Still watching a 4th game.

Rapinoe and Necib are awesome. If USA plays France in the final, I will lose my mind.

I've been following the US WNT's blog as they played their first 2 games in Glasgow, where I work. I reckon they'll win the gold, although team GB looked promising as well last night, beating Brazil in front of 70,000. This competition will definitely raise the profile of the women's game in GB and the skill levels of the best teams are better than some of the rubbish I've seen men playing :)

Oh, I am so sick of men's soccer. There is so much unfair play going on. Sportsmanship is so often out the window, it's not even funny. All I see in most games is a bunch of arrogant underprivileged jerks running around shoving each other. It's just not fun to watch.

At least, with the women's teams, they're having to fight for the right to play and be recognized as real athletes and there is a lot of dignity in that struggle that brings a sense of integrity to their games you don't see nearly so often with the guys.

Looking forward to the showdown tonight between Phelps and Lochte in the pool. The Tennis is starting to get better with higher seeds now.

This morning, men from England both won a gold and a silver in men's whitewater doubles,
which was very interesting to watch.

We three laughed seeing all four medalers fall off of their whitewater canoes as they celebrated their victory.

I think Phelps might let Lochte win the gold this time, since Phelps may not want to win another gold medal.

Women's 77kg judo was good.

I want to do judo now, since I have the body type for it (when I lose my flab, I'd be in a lighter weight category, though). I'm too old to do it competitively, but it might help me gain confidence.

Weightlifting is very dramatic and much more fun to watch than you think it's going to be. I keep seeing more guys trying to do it in the gym with the belts and everything, and talking about the Olympics.

How can you "spoil" that which has already taken place?

Are these the Schroedinger Olympics, where everyone has both won and lost the gold medal until NBC sees fit to broadcast the event in US prime time???

Even though I will try to begin with a fresh start at the school where my sister goes to in the winter of next year, I too want to do martial arts, preferably ju jitsu/Brazilian ju jitsu, aikido/fencing, or judo; mainly as a way for self-defense.

Ironically, there is a martial arts studio by the church I go to; I may check that out one of these Sundays, if it's open on Sundays.

NBC has it on tape delay here in the States, so I wasn't sure if people saw the event. You can go online and see it or wait until primetime. Its annoying how they operate it.

Sorry to be pedantic, but 2 of the men were from Scotland, not England. :) All 4 countries of Great Britain unite as one team for the Olympics, although they compete as separate teams in some other events,e.g. in World Cups of football and rugby among others.

I have been watching basketball to see how the boomers and opals are going (aussie teams boomers are the men opals are the women).
The Boomers have won 1 game so far and are playing team GB next (hopefully boomers win so they can make next stage).
Opals have won all their games (except 1) so far and I can't remember who they are playing next.
Opals won against Russia yesterday so they will finish ontop of their group (I think),

This was last night. The first time I have seen a woman dunk a basketball in the olympics.

When it comes to Olympics I also watch gymnastics and archery. I don't watch them other times. What sports do you like to watch during the olympics that you don't watch the rest of the time?

I have the Olympics on in the background as I surf the net.

Some events draw my attention more than others like cycling & gymnastics.
