Because someone with a badge and a gun told them to.

I suppose they may have been intimidated into it but the first hospital did refuse.

NM action horrible! Many similar going on all over US - constantly! Broadly scan news, please! The wars are a lie! Our people & innocent villagers abroad are being killed for nothing , but "No bid contracts"! The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) will take the last of our soverignity as their ruling group supercedes our federal & state laws. DHS has 2.5b rounds of hollow-point ammo (anti-Geneva Convention) & arms, M-Wraps & tanks vs. us. The spy grid is everywhere & in everything - smart meters, small electronics, our phone & computers & cars! The economic implosion is upon us. The gov is prepared for war against us. They planned it! This is not to be a dual-sided affair per civil war, rather it will be absolute chaos w/dissenting public as targets. The FEMA camps are real. Check it out!! !

Black helicopters? Yeah right. This is an example of the conservative vision of law enforcement and how it
encourages policemen to run amok "in the line of duty", not some liberal-leftist conspiracy to put the USA
under the thumb of the UN.

Yeah, black helicopters have run drills over LA & in FLA. Remember all the drones too. Plus getting "black bagged" under the NDAA & Patriot Act. Also UN Agenda 21, Trans-humanism, taking our guns, TSA gropes, fusion centers, road side cavity searches, constant taser use, a corrupt court system, no more constitution, purchased politicians & the advent of the North American Union replacing the Dollar with the Amero. (In doubt? Check "United We Fall" on youtube.) Have a nice day!

Hey, where are the troops? You say it's all scary sick, but how much do you know & what are you prepared to do about it? Check various sites, some sensationalist, some questionable, but in the mix you can filter out the truth. That the CIA did kill JFK is a known fact b/c only they had the scope + motive to pull the whole thing off (Oswald - 2 of them actually) worked for those b-tards. See: www.blacklistednews.com & even the shill at www.infowars.com ( he does provide gov docs) - branch out from that. Gov lies. We're "useless eaters" to quote them. Have a nice day!

My sociology professor said that police exist to protect the rich from the poor, and the powerful from the powerless, and that even if the U.S. Constitution says we are innocent until proven guilty, that is not what the police assume.

Also, if you are obviously poor and driving a clunker or have an apparent disability, you are guilty. The police in a lot of towns will not even give you a chance to get an attorney before you are questioned to try to get a confession out of you even if they police KNOW you didn't commit the crime. To them, it is just a way to get everyone THEY consider to be "undesirable" in the prison system behind locked doors so the rich and powerful can keep running roughshod over everyone else until we have everyone but compliant sheep behind bars.

Yup, this is basically true as I've been on both ends of the spectrum To see how the US has become a true police state now, check www.infowars.com & do searches along such lines. Hardly Andy & Barney. Happy New Year!

The police exist to maintain general order in society and I would not want to lose their presence. They do tend to categorize and label people on the spot by appearance and how they act and that's usually all they have to go by. This is why I tell people who can at all afford not to look like a bum not to look like a bum in public.

Police departments are bureaucracies and cops tend to go along to get along and as a whole have an us against them mentality. The well off do tend to get better service from the police than the not so well off because of money and status. Rich people are capable of making bigger waves if they are wronged. I can't see that ever changing under any circumstances.
Personally, I don't like the militarization of the police. I don't think most smaller cities and towns need to have a standing SWAT team.

If you're agreeing with me, even in part, it must have hurt.

I actually PARTIALLY agree with many of your positions. I just think you take most of them to an extreme. In most cases, my disagreements are not because of philosophical differences so much as practicality differences.
