Yeah, I really love it when people fall back on pseudo-scientific clap trap to justify their bulls__t..

The constant use of "It's scientific!" just goes to show people don't really understand what constitutes "science." And, FYI, my mother got stuck in abusive relationships, and no, the abusive men weren't "easy" to spot.

The idea that women only like "bad boys" isn't anything but a mix of blatant misogyny and sour grapes from men who think any other guy who gets more female attention than him must be a "jerk." What a bunch of pure twaddle. It's nonsense like this that makes me wonder why I bother with WP at all.

Seems like this girl was NOT attracted to a 'bad boy', but told him she was attending the dance with her boyfriend.

Seems that HE was the one with an obsession.

She does not appear to have sensed any potential danger, though.

And if you care to protest, they quickly label you as 'anti-science' or 'irrational', both of which seem about the worst thing anyone can be nowadays.

I can see this is a topic that invites emotive rather than rationale responses. I'm not feeding it anymore.

I'm sorry this is your feeling, I didn't intend (as Sylkat mentioned) to come across as misogynistic.
i) The papers I presented were infact published by women
ii) the papers are not psuedoscientific, they are peer reviewed scholarly articles published in reputable journals.
ii) I never made any attempt to link "bad boys" or for that matter "bad girls" with what happened to this poor girl. That;s a completely separate issue. I was repsonding to a throw away comment that this was evidence that women cant trust men. The man in this story was never trustworthy to start of with. I also wanted to demonstrate that men can also not trust women. It's never one way traffic,

I find it ridiculous people are making judgements about my views on females that are totally unrepresentative. I gave up a full time job and career to look after my daughter. She is the centre of my universe.

Your comment wasn't misogynistic (didn't imply the majority of women blindly follow some biological drive or another) not did you make it personal as in "nice decent men who have to bend over backwards to prove they are reliable".



The same people seem completely unaware that both women and men are capable of not acting on biological impulses, even those seen as "imperative" (breeding for instance). Thinking a woman just sleeps with the "wealthy and powerful" or the "alpha jerks" every time she ovulates is just as sexist and false as thinking that every testosterone fuelled young man goes around raping women.
