How does a guy like that get infected?

The same way HIV is transferred?

Through sexual contact or shared needles, you mean? Possibly, but he still would've had to ignore the fact that the person was exhibiting symptoms.

Also possible, although he was likely Muslim.

No, if he was vomiting on that plane then any other passenger or air hostess that came in contact with that vomit would of gotten ebola. Also, one of the symptoms of ebola is also to bleed out every single orifice in the body. If someone tries to help with the bleeding, then that person could contract ebola from the blood.

I just read that the American who died in Nigeria was vomiting on the plane. Vomiting Ebola on an airplane, on an international flight. And where are the other passengers now? Who knows. Was the plane disinfected afterwards? No, because no one even knew he had Ebola until another 24 hours passed.
I'm buying some extra canned goods on my next trip to Costco. :?

It's official then; we're f****d.

The experimental Ebola serum looks very promising, so I wouldn't start filling out your will yet, if I were you.

The best way to minimize the risk of infecting this country and even the continent is not to knowingly allow anyone infected or suspected of being infected with ebola to enter or re-enter. It's possible that a recent strain of the virus could be more resilient and/or infectious than previous ones. When we have a pandemic on our hands it's a little too late to say oh s**t!

The U.S. has military bases with hospitals in many parts of the world. I think they should have converted one of those hospitals into an Ebola treatment facility, rather than bringing patients to the States. Or what about Gitmo? That way if it spreads it might take out some terrorists.

Why are people so butthurt that those two people were repatriated? It should be a source of pride for Americans. They got their people back and are giving them the best treatment possible.

Exactly; it says much about us Americans that we care for our own - and it would say much about us if we listened to blowhards like Trump and denied them entry.

I would hope that what is going on with this Ebola will wake people up to the reality of the negative effects of this income inequality and apathy for civilization. If some of this wealth was spread around in assistance to these poverty stricken countries this kind of outbreak could have been prevented. Hopefully, it's not too late.

The pharmaceutical companies get more money off boner pills and medicine to treat the overfed than to develop drugs to help poor people who have no funds to purchase the drugs.
