Well, we are certainly off the original topic, but I am the O P and I don't care. I'm glad OOM added her thoughts so it wasn't just guys. At one point there were 3 women and 2 teenage girls in my house and the "voodoo" seemed to coordinate their cycles one after another. Good that they weren't all at the same time, but otherwise someone was feeling poorly all the time.
That tends to happen and I don't know why. When women live together our cycles tend to sync up. Me and both my daughters used to all tend to start within a week of each other. I have no clue why it happens, it just does. Of course going through perimenopause and being so very irregular now, I'm not in sync with anybody very often but my daughters still are. I'll go a month or three without a period and then have two or three in one month. I'll also have very long, very very heavy ones and the next time it will just be a day or two of light spotting. I wish to God it would just stop altogether. I've also started having lots of bad cramps again like I used to before I had kids. I also have zits again. I'm 51 years old and have to use wrinkle cream to prevent wrinkles yet I'm back to putting toothpaste on my zits before I go to bed because otherwise I'd have the complexion of a 14 year old! Plus, I have terrible hormonal mood swings and PMS too. It's no fun at all.
But yeah, we do tend to sync up. I'd like to find out if that happens at convents. They have lots of women living together all their lives in those. I'd bet it does. I'm not talking about nuns who aren't in convents, I'm talking about ones who live basically enclosed lives and don't come out into the outside world much. Also, I wonder if it happens in prisons too and if so does it also do that with the female guards who work there.
I wonder why that happens.

I don't think nuns are supposed to talk about that. They might not even know themselves whether it happens ![]()

The actual crime (defacing the image of Jeff Davis -or whichever CSA statesman it was- with a popular political slogan) was vandalism.
The hypothetical "painting MLK's statue white"( or more plausibly painting "KKK" and or swastikas, on him) would also be vandalism.
The hypothetical crime against the image of MLK would also be a "hate crime" because it would be obvious that it was motivated out of hatred of a particular race, and meant to intimidate members of that race. That race being Black Americans.
The actual crime against the statue of Jeff Davis is not a hate crime. Its a political protest against certain public policies through what would have been free speech if it were not done via vandalism.
The reason the actual crime is not a 'hate crime' is obvious. It does not involve hatred. Hatred is light years away from it.
What group (racial? religious? ethnic? age group?) is being targeted for 'hatred'? What group is being targeted for intimidation?
None.
Certainly not White people. No hatred of White people is being expressed. And no intimidation of Whites (as Whites) was either intended, nor achieved.
Seriously. How is it a "hate crime"?
Spray painting the Chinese embassy with the slogan "Free Tibet" would be vandalism. But its not a 'hate crime'. Ditto spray painting a poster of the Ayatollah with "Stop Iranian Nukes"(to coin a slogan someone might want), or back in the Seventies spray painting the Russian embassy with "Save Soviet Jewry", are all examples of political protests. Free speech, but free speech done through vandalism. Maybe they are all are crimes. But none are "hate crimes". Same with writing "Black lives matter" on the face of Jeff Davis. Saying "Black lives matter" is no more a racial slur against all Whites (as Whites) than yelling "free Tibet" is a racial slur at all Han Chinese.
And why do you equate a Confederate politician with MLK anyway? How is there equivalency between say Jeff Davis, and Martin Luther King anyway?

Oh, I'm sure that they understand what's happening. After all, they're celibate, not dead.
I doubt they can be sure whether other nuns are going through that time of the month unless they directly see it, which seems unlikely, or talk about it.

Nonsense.
I can't imagine any religious reason why nuns can't talk about female stuff with other females (ie each other, or the mother superior)unless they are in Trappist order, and can't speak at all.
In fact I don't even know if they even have "Trappist Nuns" (like Trappist Monks), or not.

Lots of nuns keep silence, but most don't keep it constantly. There are times when they can talk. Also, they can talk during the silence when it's needed. You can tell someone they are sick, or that there is a fire, or even pass the salt please. It's conversation that is forbidden. That is so you focus more on God. Benedictine nuns who live in a monestary and not a convent keep silence. Carmelite nuns do as well, and I think they keep the silence more than Benedictines. I also believe it's the Carmelites that don't wear shoes either, and sleep on boards and live extreme poverty.
Nuns wee my special interest for a very long time and I used to want to be one, believe it or not. For a while I was trying out being a third order Benedictine but I couldn't hack it. Those are the lay orders and you can marry and live your regular life and just try and keep up with the Office when you can.
