michigan court says juveniles can be raped in prison

I think the people that actually work in prisons and deal with inmates want dissention within the prison population to keep them from uniting under a common cause like overpowering the guards and having a massive breakout. As long as the house is divided it can be more easily controlled.

More like the state doesn't have the resources to prevent it.

but they do have the resources to build fancy schmancy sports stadiums for billionaires. it is all about priorities, and America's priorities are awry.

Which billionaires are getting sports stadiums?
Anyhoo, forget prison rape every being much of a priority since the states won't spend the money and the guards would just as soon have the chaos between prisoners for the reasons I stated a few post above.

it was a recent controversy in seattle as well. stands to reason that if we can "afford" to spend public moneys on megabuck sports stadiums for people who could well afford them on their own, we can afford to live up to the part of the constitution which talks about "no cruel and unusual punishments."

And if you separate the prisoners like they did in the past (before it was 1. considered psychological torture, like being raped isn't 2. too much work) they wouldn't be able to unite! There would be enough resources as well if we didn't incarcerate nearly an entire percent of the adult population!

No, I said they should have some time to socialize. Much better than 24/7 solitary confinement.
