Go ahead.

Make my day.

If someone calls you ridiculous, the mods will reprimand the miscreant appropriately. If you are just annoyed because someone calls an argument that you've put forth ridiculous, good luck with that. They say time heals all wounds.

Look, I'm tired of the little passive aggressive comments like "The average Trump supporter has at most a high school diploma" , or calling other members" trolls" just because they disagree with you, or "DUH, even a moron should see why that is stupid", or "I don't understand NT's for me I like it when people make sense", and the list goes on and on. Either learn how to debate or don't debate at all.

It is shockingly classist of Democrats who claims to be the party of the poor to engage in such denigration of working class and impoverished whites, it's not wonder why this group is rallying around Trump because every other corner of the political spectrum has abandoned them and pretty much openly despises them. A good many of Barack Obama's supporters were uneducated minorities, did that make him less legitimate of candidate and president? P

I'm not dumb. I know it's not the moderators doing it all. One person even told me to "slit my throat" and only got reprimanded when Fnord turned it in. That is going way beyond attacking someone. I try to treat people fair, but it seems in this forum there are some people who don't like to play fair, so I'm not going to either. I like a good debate just like anyone else, but the debate stops when someone says something about the other person instead of what the other person said. There's no reason to say what someone said is "ridiculous" - you say that you don't agree and then proceed with a reason why. That's how a debate should run.

Pretty sure telling people to harm themselves is against the rules, a lot of times people report things like that I know i have reported comments that break site rules. However there is a difference between that and saying something is riduclous.

By saying that what someone said is "ridiculous" is attacking the person - there's no need to say it at all. It's an offhanded comment that downgrades the person who said it. That kind of comeback would never be allowed in a real debate. That's why I'm saying learn how to debate or don't debate at all - leave the snide comments at the door.

Is happening right now in another thread. I may just head on over there.

Saw an infographic from Dox47's link. This describes a major grievance among these ranchers.

This looks like chest thumping if you ask me. People who showcase like this look ridiculous. They said they'd leave if the locals ask. This reminds me of the mormon whittling gangs I've heard of, they'd just whittle a stick around someone who misbehaved, I always thought that story was odd.

I think this is civil disobedience.

The Founders went to war over far less governmental intrusion than what Washington gets away with these days. By living in one of those "government-controlled areas," I know how federal land means "off-limits." Now, tell me, where are citizens supposed to live (much less work) in these states? I believe that we should carefully consider who is blame-worthy in this matter.

Im tired of seeing right wingers negatively generalizing the entire left and making all kinds of nasty generalizations about how we're all overly entitled and spoiled for desiring some improvements in this country and desiring to have enough to live semi-comfortably.

I'm not used to that.

To return to the original topic: they'll come out when they're hungry enough.

I read an article yesterday that showed a picture of some of the food supplies they had. Someone estimated it to be about two weeks worth of food for the number of people up there.

Edit: I found the article I read yesterday, here is a link to it.

I read that article two days ago and I wanted to post a link to it myself, but I couldn't remember where I'd seen it. Thanks for finding it.

From what I've read, the local tribe of Paiute Indians, who make up much of Harney County's population, are having a major lulz moment over the militia's demands. The Paiutes once signed a treaty that gave them much of the Great Basin. The feds refused to honor it and even tried kicking the Indians off their land in a death march similar to the Trail of Tears. Now the Paiutes are saying, hello you palefaced morons, that's our land and was for millenia before you doofs tried to grab it, so go back to Europe if you really want the "true owners" of the land (hint, that's US!) to have it back. So, the locals don't want the militia there, and neither do the ranchers, who rejected the Bundys' demand that they barricade themselves at their ranch and dare the feds to come get them.
