Anti-islamists getting excited about this are misinformed. The group within the military that orchestrated this are followers of a rival islamist. It's true that Erdogen is extremely corrupt, but the lead group orchestrating this is not secular. If they succeed it will not necessarily be a victory for secularism. Real secularists in Turkey are not excited about this. If Erdogen prevails (most likely), it will give him an excuse to be even more autocratic.

Maybe this fail is for the better, he is the elected president after all and it could have led to civil war.
