You're right, jacoby, car accident victims aren't innocent and it's their own fault that they didn't get out of the way of that drunk or drugged driver going the wrong way on the interstate./s

It boggles my mind why people who recreationally speed in modified vehicles aren't classified as terrorists? plenty of youtube videos here in Australia of noisy car "hoons" confronted by families assaulting parents of small children

You are completely clueless. Car crashes under the influence are 70% of fatal car accidents.

 Hardcore drunk drivers continue to wreak havoc on our nation’s road accounting for 71% of drunk driving fatalities, where there is a known alcohol-test result for the driver – a trend that has remained relatively unchanged for more than a decade.

Yeah, you must mean like the time when I was an 18-year-old car passenger and a drunk driver approaching from the other lane suddenly swerved across the road into our path and hit the back of our car as we swerved off the raised roadway to avoid impact, pushing the back of our car upward and also propelling us headlong into a tree that ricocheted us into the bottom of a nearby river where we all nearly drowned only to be saved by passersby.

RIP

Seems like body armor might be pretty good safety equipment to wear when on foot in public nowadays (no matter where you live), or it's getting close to being statistically worthwhile.

It could be included in weather forecasts: "Today is definitely a helmet day, chance of light shrapnel showers."

German Police have stated that the shooter was indeed inspired by Anders Behring Breivik... and mass shootings in general...

... apparently, he was also completely batshit, and may have been receiving psychiatric treatment...

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-36874497

Furthermore... 3 of the deceased victims were Turkish, and 3 were from Kosovo... It is thus likely that several victims were Muslim.. This could be a co-incidence, as there is a sizeable Turkish minority in Münich, but given the Breivik link, they may have been deliberately targeted because of their religious/ethnic background...

I noticed that these terroristic events are coming so quickly that I haven't yet processed the last ones. A sizeable group of of these 'lone wolf' types appear to be unstable/dissatisfied individuals latching onto a generic 'cause', and attempting to make up for their miserably unsucessfull lives in an act of anti-social vengence that will make them famous (for about 2-3 days).

Today's Isis is yesterday's violent videogames and marylin manson.

And regarding my relativizing opinion about traffic accidents and terror attacks: fun thing, isn't it? I found hypicrisy in my statemebt, but also those of others.

When there's a shooting in the US, gun enthusiasts say, there's so many more people dying in traffic, no need to do anything about guns- when there's an islamic terrorist attack and I say: no need to do anything about muslims, there's so many more people dying in traffic, I'm told I can't be serious.

So. Either ban guns AND muslims, or neither.

And stop building cars that can go twice the speed limit, in either case, and make even slight speeding publicly unacceptable.
And make traffic cops our heroes.

That's silly. Videogames and music are not actually violent. ISIS is real.

man, re-read my post,I'm pretty sure I was clear enough.

I do not disregard the importancy of preverting alchohol related traffic accidents. but I was talking about the % of alchohol related accidents compared to the total number of fatal/injury causing car accidents. In which your very own source states is about 30%... still it's easier to educate for alchohol safety than to actually alter driving habits.

Your 2nd argument makes no sense, because it is unrelated to my post. obviously you're biased based on your personal experience not in a bad way of course. I was talking about being the driver him/herself, having to be the most focused person in the car. One of the differences between terrorism and car accidents (amongst million others) is that you actually don't know when you need to concentrate.

It's basically like a regular test and a surprise test in way.

No not silly. The subject is very debated and under study. The results are mixed but enough do find correlations for it not to be dismissed. Violent and criminal activity games are still relatively new and still reaching new audiences. It may take some time for an accurate picture to be revealed.

So what are you? An enthusiast for radical Islam? What redeeming quality am I missing here? Equating gun ownership to radical Islamic terrorism doesn't fly as one is a tool that is acted on and another is a cancerous ideology, perhaps I should equate these extremists with Nazis in a much more apt comparison and then maybe you can understand because their barbarity is mirrored. Living with terrorism is unacceptable and people like you are the first ones to lose all credibility on the issue.

Careful, in this thought experiment, I do not equate gun ownership with radical islamic terrorism. I equate gun ownership with islam, remember, that world religion that has over a billiin peaceful practitioners.
Gunownership and islam, however both have an inherent potential of being part of incrediblw violence.
Guns don't kill people, and individual does.
Islam doesn't kill people, ... And so forth.

The horrible problem about ISIS is that they're desperately trying to create a situation, in which islam itself becomes an enemy for the western world, and vice versa, the western world becomes an enemy of islam itself, and not just ISIS. And at that point, you have a war of a billion people in the west against a billion muslims.
For now, it's a guerilla war, enacted by a few thousand maniacs.
THEY should be wiped out, but at the same time we must make sure it's a war on ISIS and no one else.

The nazi comparison doesn't work in my view. The nazis led a straight, 20th century war, with tanks and planes. Not a highly asymmetrical guerilla war.
They are very different in the way their ideology works. Both are despicable and dehumanizing. If you can make an analogy that works in which nazis and ISIS have anything else in common but their dehumanizing qualities and the final goal of creating a world ruled by their ideology, please elaborate.

I compare them as a threat to our way of life just the same, Soviet Communism might be a better example if you want to compare the ways in which the wars were fought but it doesn't need to be a perfect analogue as they share many of the same traits from both. I don't have an issue with all of Islam but rather just a large rapidly growing and powerful sect of it, Shia and Alevis for example aren't going to blow themselves up for example or be sympathetic and somebody can correct me if I'm wrong.

Radical Sunni Salafi/Wahhabi Islam is the basis of the ideology behind ISIS, there is a real religious foundation and to pretend like there is no link is wrong.

I think you maybe don't understand what I think needs to be done, I don't believe Islam needs to be banned but the threat of terrorism and the ideology behind it needs to be taken seriously. We've created a monster, now we have to kill it.
