Are we still talking about disinviting people from CPAC?

I get the sense in this thread that anyone from the past who disagreed with our modern conception of age of consent laws has more in store than that. Care to be specific about what you propose to do about the various people listed in this thread as having different ideas? People who break the law are dealt with by the authorities, based on many factors. All of that is in the public record, but is really part of a different discussion. Or is it? Is suggesting that some young people like sex equivalent to promoting rape? Does it justify, for example, punching the speaker in the throat?

Also - thinking how "getting drunk and getting laid" used to be a big thing - and sex is now apparently seen as an activity that has to be hemmed in by Informed Consent processes and procedures, and a full risk analysis...

Yes, there is fascism within both the "Left" and the "Right."

I view that conception as a teaching tool only. People use the whole language process in their minds, but learn language better using phonics. No one realistically expects people to follow the rules all the time, what with humans being humans and all, but this makes more sense than the BS guidance I got from older males when I was young. My parents gave me books, but I remember first learning about informed consent from The Joy of Sex, which I bought for myself in high school. I definitely read the term years before I heard someone tell me personally to think about it. Things are better now.

Another Nazi, right?

Yes, the leader of the SA Brownshirts, who was well known for his nepotism for putting his boyfriends into high ranking Brownshirt positions. After Hitler came to power, Rohm wanted the Brownshirts to be merged with the German army, which the officer corps strenuously rejected. As Hitler needed the army as his silent partner, and that Rohm was increasingly socialistic at a time when Hitler was making alliances with Germany's big corporations, he allowed himself to be swayed by Heinrich Himmler of the SS with the lie that Rohm was plotting a coup against Hitler. Hitler knew it wasn't true, just as he knew Himmler just wanted to rid himself of a rival, but he played along, and had Rohm and the Brownshirt leadership arrested and shot.

The primary reason was that Hilter needed the support of the German armed forces who were disciplined trained soldiers who would never accept an alliance or leadership from untrained and undisciplined brownshirts. The explains the "night of the long knives"

However Rohm was cultivating a network of gay Nazis which didn't sit comfortably with Hitler's homophobia. It was convenient time to cull this group. Himler's input merely assured their support for the inevitable.

Fast forward to 2017 and Steve Bannon (our latter day Goebbals) editor of Breitbart (a platform for the neo-fascist alt right) is now one step from the president and is influencing public policy in the US. He needed Milo to serve a specific purpose in his right wing "rag" but he served his purpose. Bannon's extreme right philosophy is diametrically opposed to homosexuality and this was an opportunity for his "night of the long knives" and rid himself of Yianopoulous

So, in this case, the Nazi metaphor puts in a lot of work.

There's this thing that people can do, where they find out about something on their own before posting, rather than after posting ignorant opinions with no bearing on reality. I respect that a lot.

I'm a avid supporter of former Harvard history professor Daniel Goldhagen's hypothesis that the pschological basis for creating the conditions of Nazism are actually not that complicated given the environmental circumstances. Germany in the turn of the 20th century was infact a far more enlightened place than modern USA in terms of the arts, culture, philosophy and science yet circumstances changed rather dramatically in the space of 1-2 decades....

Social psych experiments conducted by Milgram and Zimbardo in Stanford and Yale also demonstrate you can take ordinary people and make them do extraordinarily barbaric things on the basis of obedience to authority and social conformity.

Therefore the Nazi metaphor is not that much of a stretch and the conditions are there today for a "right wing revival" that (for some reason) doesn't concern the "hoi polloi" as much as the intellectuals

I'm saying that I think the Nazi metaphor fits well in this case, and that the people who dismissed it really should have looked into what they were dismissing.

That says it all. If you read stuff from that imbecile, you're going to be influenced. His thesis was that Germans have always been evil and were just waiting for eternity to kill the Jews off.

To be blunt, the preoccupation I see regarding Nazis here, especially from a couple of regulars, is really looking like an unhealthy obsession.

Not quite John. Goldhagen's thesis was that German society internalised about 1000 years of anti-semitism spawned by the catholic church's (somewhat warped) obsession with the Jews being responsible for Christ being crucified.

He rather brilliantly documents written and photographic evidence that German society evolved a particularly deep animosity toward Jewish people. This erupted in the early 30s with the because Jews had been largely responsible for Germany being an powerful economic power as well as the centre of science and the arts. The common German felt a tinge of envy at what they perceived as a foreign group reaping the rewards of Germany's prosperity.

When Germany was suffering during the great depression it was easy for the Nazis to use Jews as scapegoats because they already had a suitably indocrinated population ready to look for a scapegoat to blame for their own mess.

I have a feeling he meant half of Hollywood figuratively, rather than literally. As in conveying that it's a significant actual problem. I don't quite get parents like you a cyberdad being so dismissive regarding child abuse. But maybe that's part of liberalism and why something like NAMBLA is trying to gain tolerance and acceptance through them.

I wasn't talking about trans. I was replying to you saying conservatives think gay men are child molesters. And said that adult with youth relationships, as they existed in ancient Greece, is a thing within gay male culture. I think there's more to this stuff than just it being right-winger phobia.

I am not dismissive of child sexual abuse. But I happen to know the right has a chubby for taking down Hollywood for the liberal politics and sympathy for racial and sexual minorities there, and that is what I am critical of.
And seriously, nobody is sympathetic to a group as disgusting as NAMBLA, except for pedophiles.
What evidence is there that gay adults are sexually interested in youths just because that was popular in ancient Greece? With the exception of gay pedophiles (and yes, there are such persons, as there are straight pedophiles), the notion that gay men commonly want to get with boys is the fevered imaginings of homophobic conservatives. What evidence is there really that gay adults want to reenact ancient Greek culture?

But obviously pedophilia is a problem in Hollywood as opposed to being non-existent. I don't know what evidence there is regarding adult + youth in gay male culture, but I believe I've heard similar to what Milo was saying. And I mean from from the gay side, not the conservative side. But just as long as the liberal leftist whatever don't decide that this is the next phase in tolerance evolution, then I'm not going to be overly concerned about it.

As we are a culture of sexual consent, and as children can not consent to sex, ergo, pedophilia will never become tolerated by mainstream America.
And sure, there is child sex abuse in Hollywood. But it's also common in institutional religion, and not just Catholicism. But you don't hear the right ranting and raving about organized religion being a hotbed of pedophilia. Therein lies the right's pretext for pedophilia in their obsession with damning the movie industry, with all it's liberalism and tolerance.

I would have to disagree with you. There are already countries where pedophilia is legal or widely accepted in them. I would agree that it is highly unlikely though. The thing about what becomes acceptable is the people of the past usually don't see it coming.

Also, public schools. I remember reading somewhere that a child is statistically more likely to be molested by a teacher than a religious official (almost a hundred times more likely), but I don't have exact stats on that.

The only countries that I can think of where pedophilia is acceptable are places like India, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, where that sort of behavior has been traditionally accepted for literally thousands of years. But which first world industrial countries have accepted pedophilia as normal?
