they don't even want us to have that, they wouldn't pee on us if we were on fire.

Online tax estimator from MarketWatch: https://www.marketwatch.com/story/the-n ... 2017-10-26

Income brackets before and after the change: https://www.thebalance.com/trump-s-tax- ... ou-4113968

A caveat for retirees and anyone else on Social Security from Motley Fool: https://www.fool.com/retirement/2017/12 ... ients.aspx

Finally, national and state-by-state estimates of the tax plan's impact, when it first goes into effect, and ten years from today: https://itep.org/finalgop-trumpbill/

What I want to know, without having to try figuring all that out is, will people who make between $25,000 and $50,000 be paying more income tax or less income tax in 2019?

some will be paying more, the site I clicked on didn't say what the specific individual cases were. I myself am paying .9% more [.9% higher tax rate] than last year.

How?

No brackets are raised.

My older brother seems to think this tax scam is a good thing for enough people short term in order for them to re-elect Trump. It's scary to think he could be right... that enough people get a little bit of extra money for now in order to have them think they're doing better under Trump and vote him in again.

Same for jobs. I don't have the statistics, but he seemed to believe that more people employed overall, and that there are people working who haven't been - mainly poor African Americans, and that it may be enough to win their votes, too.

Also, I saw a headline that said Mastercard said Holiday retail spending was up 4.9%.

IF enough people get a short term tax break AND enough people are back to work, even at low paying jobs, AND consumer confidence is up... well, it could spell good things for Trump. Of course I fear that spells terrible things for the entire world... it's so crazy to think that a few little crumbs could get people to re-elect such a walking, talking, disaster of a President.

^^^how on earth should I know, i'm no tax accountant, I just entered my net income [not appreciably different from last year] into the site's calculator, and that is what it came up with.

Yeah, America is booming and Trump will be the beneficiary (even if it has little to do with him).

-The "Trump rally" in the stock market is the biggest post-election rally in US history. The stock markets continually hit record highs. People are lauding Trump for creating all this new "wealth" in their retirement accounts.

-Middle class income adjusted for inflation is at a record high.

-Unemployment for manufacturing jobs is at a record low.

-The tax cut "stimulus", likely will result in the economics staying strong for Trump.

-Trump wants big spending on infrastructure, so more job creation.

Just throwing money out there and saying build something is going to cost the taxpayers far more than we get in value for the money spent.

Think about which approach toward spending we should pursue:

1) Here's a trillion dollars. Go build something.

2) Make me a list of things that need to be fixed. Tell me what it will cost to fix them and we'll allocate the money to do it.

If he were to use the second approach, which he definitely won't, we might get our money's worth. We sure won't get it with the first approach.

Scam? What, people getting to keep more of their own money instead of sending it to the government is a scam?

scam because the tax "cuts" disappear in 7 years [go back up]. scam because bill gates gets hundred$ of thousand$ or more back, you get chump change back [unless you are making 6 figures or above]. scam because this new law also is a Trojan horse that butchers the arctic national wildlife refuge with leaky oil drilling, and also cuts the financial legs out from under PPACA. SCAM!! !

Maybe not but some deductions have been changed or eliminated so it could make some people's taxes go up depending on their situation. Also there will be budget cuts in programs that help the lower and middle class. Also, this will raise the national debt. Maybe the economy is doing well now because none of Trump's policies are in effect now. Once it starts to go downhill it is his problem. He won't be able to blame Obama anymore if he isn't willing to give him credit now.
