I've said it on WP several times before, I think any presidency from here on out should trigger an automatic independent council to run concurrent with the term/terms of said president and given open ended powers to investigate any time of said president's life for proven undeniable illegal activity. Said president should then be booted.

It's funny how that suggestion has so far met with crickets here or at the least: "Then no one would run for president." I disagree. There are squeaky clean people in this world. They may or many not align with your personal ideology, but so what. I want untarnished leaders. "Everyone's tarnished to some degree, especially in politics......" I reject such a notion. Why? "My guy should be able to skate, your guy on the other hand should go to jail....." Partisan, partisan, partisan, crap, crap, crap.

Yeah, a blanket investigation of everyone based on nothing is idiotic.

No. There's only "nothing" until you find something. Look at Roy Moore. They found something from 30+ years ago and he lost the election. Works for me. I say set the standard at going back to age 18. How do you stop dishonest criminals, losers and leches (found in both parties in spades) from running things? You prevent such scum (found in both parties in spades) from ever running in the first place. Also, a person apparently can't be properly vetted during a campaign. Automatic special council for every president and vetting can take place without time constraints.

They object to the all part. If you said the same but only for republicans they’d be fine with it I bet. They just don’t want their side held to same standards they want the other side held to. Goes both ways

The longer the investigation drags out, without proof of collusion, the better it is for Trump. That way, he can go on calling it a "witch hunt" or a waste of time. I think the general public has a short attention span.

And when I say "proof of collusion" I don't mean between members of the campaign and Russia (which is the scope of the investigation) I mean proof of collusion between Trump himself and Russia. That will be hard to find.

Further, I think it would be a mistake for the House to impeach Trump. Firstly, it is a waste of time because the Senate will not convict (requires a 2/3).

Secondly, it would be a political mistake. Yes, the Democratic base might love it, but the majority of the American people probably don't. Most of us have accepted the fact that our leaders are crooks. I think the American people just want Congress and the President to get the job done.

Right now, there are millions of people without health insurance or access to affordable healthcare. Infrastructure needs critical repair and inspection. There are plenty of important issues. Whether or not the President paid hush money to some hookers is not really one of them.

The presidential capacity to do his freaking job is however an issue.

Perhaps but then again, not even the entire right supports him, people who supported him initially or at least thought he could make an ok president have changed their minds about him and no one on the left wants him. So I guess we'll see.

If Trump isn't impeached, the revolt already happened. And democracy lost. Trump clearly conspired heavily with the Russians, Wikileaks, the National Inquirer, and probably the Saudis, to win the election and enrich himself.

And what is Trump doing to address those things?

Not the entire left opposes him either. Lots of liberal democrats like trump too.
People,on the left and democrat politicians have this dillusional idea that 99% of the nationsupoort everything single thing they want and that it’s just a tiny 1% of the population that’s a fringe movement that opposes them.

What’s that have to do with democracy(which we aren’t one) under a democracy people could elect a murder, rapist, or even a dictator. If 51% wanted a dictator under a democracy they could make one. Nothing trump has done has violated a democracy he was elected. He didn’t use military power to seize control form a elected government. Democrats aren’t entitled power, republicans winning elections isn’t violating democracy.

Obama clearly violated the constitution and he wasn’t Impeached neither will trump and Obama did far worse legal things. He ruled despite the constitution by decree of his own and paper, dam congress he said.

He can't do anything about them. There's this thing called Congress. It's their job to pass laws.

I think Trump really did want to provide more affordable healthcare. I think a lot of people in this forum get ssdi, medicare, subsidies and so on, so they don't know what many are up against regarding the high cost of health insurance premiums. Especially when weighed against huge deductibles. Trump said in the beginning that you have to get run over by a tractor for it to do you any good, and I agreed with that. But of course trying to get a better system passed by congress seems impossible. Which is why obamacare ended up being such a failure for so many.

Plenty of people will say Trump doesn't give a s**t about helping anyone other than the 1%. But the thing is he needs approval from the masses for reelection. That's why he wants a better economy, more jobs and a better healthcare system for them. His ego wants him to go down in history as a great and successful president and those things work towards that.

Trump wants to be not just “great and successful”, but the greatest, most successful in history!

Right. And what I'm saying is an uncaring selfish person can still be driven towards helping the masses if there's something in it for him. The man is in his twilight years, so legacy probably means a great deal to him.

...I have
posted in the past about both Roger Stone and Jim Bakker having said " warnings " (wink.wink) that violence WOULD happen if Trump were impeached --- In Bakker's case, adding a dose of what I interpret as " Jesus would WANT you to take up.arms against a Trump imoeacbment "! !! :(

fMe"]Trgger Warning: This might be the most negative thing I have ever posted. I damn well hope it is Autistic catastrophizing, but this is how I sincerly think things are going to play out.

Politico

Quote:
President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that there would be chaos across the country if he were impeached.

“I’m not concerned, no,” the president told Reuters reporters about his potential impeachment during an interview in the Oval Office. “I think that the people would revolt if that happened.”

IMHO that was the most dangerous anti democratic thing Trump has ever said. I know that is saying a lot. Under the guise of an opinion it is a call to arms that could become a self fulfilling prophechy.

I am more then ever convinced the man will not leave the oval office voluntarily. If it happens the video of him being physically dragged out by the “deep state” is going to be real ugly. IMHO it will be more likely from election loss or term limits then impeachment and conviction but the cause won’t matter.

That is if he(and us) is not vaporized by his own temper tantrum nulclear war becoming more likely with the noose tightining and the “adults in the room” being fired or quitting.[/quote]

I get Medicaid and Obama care made it worse. They don’t pay for bunch of things anymore.
Obama care did exactly what it was suppose to, make the insurance companies more money. Democrats and republicans are deep in the insurance companies pockets. Neither of them will ever do universal health care as that’ll kill the insurance companies and their bribes.

He gives lots of money to help people. If he didn’t care he wouldn’t do thst. He says stupid stuff sometimes but he’s a human and he cares about people.

Part of his issue is he’s a sell out. He’s pushing gun control cause he thinks it’ll make the left like him. He’s a businessman they make deals aka sell out. People who voted for him know this thst if he thinks most want something he’ll do that.
Most people in my city like trump. The next city not so much.

I’d still rate him over Obama. I’ll vote for him again even if I’m not happy with everything he does.

Also trumps not in insurance companies pocket. He’s nit in anyone’s pocket. He does listen to politicians who are in people’s pockets, I wish he wouldn’t.
He not perfect. But no politician is to me. Centerists don’t run for office.

SO has every leader. Obama tried hard to make a lasting legacy. Do you think he did thst out of kindness? No he wanted to be remembered 200 years from now he wanted to be the next Lincoln and get a memorial. Every president besides Washington wanted that. They wanted a legacy. Honestly who doesn’t want to be remembered? I’d like to have a legacy. When I die no one will care, no one will remember me. Who remembers peasants? Everyone remembers Napoleon, king George, Lincoln, Jackson, Alexander th great, etc.
Rich people spend a lot to have a legacy. As long as that hospital stand they live on.

For most people that legacy is your family. Your kids will remember you, theirnkids will, their kids will, and generations after them might. My mom researches our family tree, thsts their legacy. They are memorialized though it.
I’ll have. I family tree. My existence will be lost as if it never happen. If I won the lottery I think I’d pay for a building to be made and create a place for homeless. I’d be helping people and I’d create a legacy.
