Answer the question or there is no point in talking. You keep intentionally dodging this issue.

If you do not monitor people who cross the border, how can you ensure they are not carrying drugs with them?

That has never been the issue of discussion. The wall has been.

I've been transparent about the fact that I have a relative who works on our Southern border to protect Canadians from the rapists, murderers, and drug dealers who infiltrate our country from the South & I'm appreciative of his work and the arrest record he has.

Building the wall has nothing to do with monitoring people or protecting borders - especially since it doesn't solve the problems that trump claims it will resolve... because illegals arrive via airplane & drugs are smuggled across legal land crossings.

I've suggested in this forum, multiple times, that spending $5-30Billion on actually monitoring the USA's borders would be a far better use of funds in terms of effectively monitoring your borders & preventing human trafficking and drug smuggling etc. But that falls on deaf ears to trump supporters who want to see his monument to racism constructed, costs and effectiveness at actually solving any problems be damned.

The problem we are facing is that our democrats are saying that the wall is immoral rather than the issue actually being discussed. They are insisting that it is immoral to prevent people from crossing illegally, they are attacking ICE agents, they are claiming we should have open, unmonitored borders. I even agree that the wall may not be the best idea, mostly because of wild life, the problem is no one is willing to discuss the problem, rather they wish to hold opposite opinions than Trump, thus, Trump says we need more security at the border, they claim we need no security at the border. Also, it has been proved that walls do in fact lower crossings by a huge number(walking across the border, not using airplanes).

Now, here is the funny thing that proves they just want to have the opposite opinion of Trump. Obama deported more illegal immigrants than any other president in US history, yet they target Trump and claim he is wrong for wanting a wall. Both Obama and Hillary claimed we needed a wall at the border, now that it's Trumps idea, they claim it's wrong to suggest that. Walls do work, the idea that it does not help has been proved to be incorrect, as some countries have already put border walls up and it did greatly help out.

Zero democrats have claimed the USA needs no security at the border. Cite your sources if you have any.

So then spend the money & resources on deporting illegal immigrants vs. building a wall that doesn't solve problems. Duh.
Walls do help, you keep ignoring that also.

Except this is how most illegal immigrants in the USA arrive:

Image

You keep ignoring that.

$30B+ on a concrete wall doesn't solve the problem. Spend the money on inland enforcement of travel, work, and student visa expirations.

It would be nice if we had an Ellis Island-type setup.

The countries in the European Union have open borders with each other. Otherwise, people are always subject to scrutiny when they enter a foreign country.

Actually, the percentage of illegal immigrants that arrive by air to the U.S. is around 40%.

Illegal immigrants are irrelevant to this thread, anyways. US born people commit more crimes than illegal immigrants & thus in all probability are responsible for Most, if not all, of the recent increase in hate crimes.

See, that's another problem with undocumented people, when a crime is committed by someone who is not documented, the likelihood of capturing them dramatically decreases, because they are no documented and there is no history of them being here. We have a high count of unsolved crimes, surely some of those are from undocumented people. Also, MS13 is one of the most ruthless and violent gangs in america, a lot of their members are undocumented illegals, they are known for cutting people's heads off. Don't commit many crimes my behind.

Wow a Canadian bigot who thinks "most" US citizens are criminals. I don't know if I should laugh or be offended by you.

You keep looking over the fact that is not good for people to be able to walk across the border without being screened to justify people being able to walk across our border without being screened. You make them out to be angles and ignore the fact that, while all of them aren't bad people, bad people still take advantage of being able to cross the border unmonitored. That's why you wouldn't ever answer the question, how can you ensure bad people don't cross the border when you do not monitor them and you do not know who they are. Then to add, this isn't your country, you don't even live here. Pretty crazy to surest that another country is wrong for wanting a wall because they have a big issue with people, including drug traffickers and gang members, illegally entering their country.

Preach to your own country how it is wrong to try to prevent unscreened people from entering the country you live in.

The reason people say it's immoral to put a wall up is because they are aware that a wall does a great job at preventing people from walking across borders. Many places have walls for that exact reason, because they work.

USA Today: Donald Trump's Great Wall — it didn't work for the Ming Dynasty either

The failure of the Great Wall

Politico: The World Is Full of Walls That Don’t Work

So much of what people ignorantly claim here is so easily disprovable with a little bit of reading that it's laughable.

It's also sad in a way though, because it says a lot about the educational systems that most people seemed to grow up with and how that system failed to teach them how to inform themselves.

I agree with you on this issue. But the manner in which you post is entirely objectionable to me. You run around crying that you're a victim, while not examining your own behavior. I can disagree with the other posters in this thread without resorting to ad hominem attacks. Just something to consider. Self reflection is always a good thing.

Wrong! Border walls do work...

Watch the video, other countries have used border walls and they did help. Even the places where we have border walls for the southern border did help.

Trump's wall might actually work, if we are anything like Hungary.

Can you point out the ad hominem in my post? I was careful to discuss the claim made and how ignorant (uninformed) and easily disprovable it was, so I'm interested to see where you think the ad hominem was. An uninformed claim is just that, and making an uninformed claim shows that someone didn't inform themselves. That's not ad hominem, it's a statement of fact that a claim was uninformed and easily disprovable.

Lol, so disprovable that it's actually been proven to work, watch the video I just posted. Try to understand that the portions of walls we already have up have reduced crossings. The people claiming that it doesn't help are the people whom ignore the evidence that they do help. That portion, I can't do anything about. Kinda funny one would claim that they don't help when they are already helping??

Calling someone "ignorant" is not in and of itself an ad hominem; saying that someone is wrong about an argument because they're ignorant is Ad hominem

Time Magazine: This Is Why Border Fences Don't Work

Cato Institute: Why the Wall Won’t Work

NYT: Homeland Security Secretary Has Said Border Wall Alone Will Not Work

Quote:
"WASHINGTON — President Trump’s Homeland Security secretary, John F. Kelly, has been clear about his views on a border wall with Mexico: It won’t work.

When asked by senators about his views on a border wall during his confirmation hearing this month, Mr. Kelly, a retired general, said a “physical barrier will not do the job.”"

"Rather than depending on a wall, Mr. Kelly said the key to stopping drug smugglers was to attack the problem at its source.

“I believe the defense of the southwest border starts 1,500 miles south and that is partnering with great countries as far south as Peru who are very cooperative with us in terms of getting after the drug production transport,” he said."

ad ho·mi·nem
/ˌad ˈhämənəm/
adjective
adjective: ad hominem

1.
(of an argument or reaction) directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining.
"vicious ad hominem attacks"

adverb
adverb: ad hominem

1.
in a way that is directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining.
"these points come from some of our best information sources, who realize they'll be attacked ad hominem"
2.
in a way that relates to or is associated with a particular person.
"the office was created ad hominem for Fenton"

You basically called them ignorant, and blamed it on the educational system. Enough said.
