You oughta redo this post to make it more direct and less confusing.
First off: the expression "all is fair in love and war" means "you can do what ever you want in courtship, or in war, because there are (supposedly) no rules in those two realms". The exact opposite of what you seem to think that it means. Ergo if Trump supporters are fair game then they would NOT be an exception to that ( because if "all is fair" then everyone would be fair game regardless of their support of Trump).
Apparently what you MEANT was "despite the old saying...all is NOT fair. There are rules on WP. And one of the rules is you cant attack groups of people. And that includes Trump supporters". Something like that.
You had me second guessing myself and believing I was more autistic than I thought with regards to idioms. The meds I'm on have given me mild aphasia so I had to check.
Merriam Webster gives this definition
"used to describe a situation in which people do not follow the usual rules of behavior and do things that are normally considered unfair"
I believe I used the idiom correctly.

Well.. we Americans elected a guy POTUS who cant even form a sentence. So I guess we can forgive you for occasionally misspeaking.
