I would have to say that I'm more in favor of the Palestinians having their own country----than in forcing them to integrate into Israeli society.
Trump talk about giving weapons to the Kurds----on FACEBOOK????
The President should be classier than that! He should be doing this through official diplomatic channels. Not putting this stuff out on social media.

Apparently, Trump doesn't like personal conflict, and Erdogan was able to get his way by yelling at Trump:
Most world leaders take the wrong approach and try to kiss Trump's you-know-what instead.
Trump then came out with a demand that, while Turkey may make a "moderate incursion" into Syria, it better not be too big, or the US will withdraw all of its troops.

I believe the Roman Emperor, Julian the Apostate, had settled Frankish prisoners of war in Flanders and the rest of Belgium, and made them allies on Roman soil.
The Franks had of course colonized the lower and middle Rhineland which was inhabited by Romanized Celts, as well as southwest and central Germany at the expense of other Germanic groups such as the Alemanni and Thuringians.
There is dispute about the identity of the Varangians and the Rus, but most scholars feel they had been Swedish Vikings who had colonized Slavic lands, giving their name to the country. A minority of scholars believe the Rus were Slavs.

Yes I've mentioned before that Vortigern the last Celtic king of Britain appealed to the Romans for troops to stave off incursions from the pagan Picts in the north after the Romans retreated from Britain in the 5th Century AD. It's my strong belief that the Romans sent these Germanic troops (the ones you mention) who may have been Roman mercanaries to help Vortigern. Coincidentally the venerable Bede records in the 5th century AD the two brothers Hengist and Horsa and their band of Anglo-Saxon mercanries were "invited" by Vortigern to quell the Picts. The rest is history. The Anglo-Saxons defeated the Picts and then turned on the Britons basically overunning the entire east of Britain which became England and thanks to these two enterprising (but Machiavellian) brothers we are now communicating in modern English on this forum.

Turkey launches operation in Syria 3 days after Trump announces U.S. withdrawal

The U.S. military began pulling back its forces from the Turkish border after the White House's announcement Sunday.
The Syrian Democratic Forces, or SDF, are led by the Kurdish YPG militia, which has long angered the Turkish government and Erdogan. Turkey sees the YPG as an extension of the separatist Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which is considered a terrorist group by the U.S.
In a statement earlier on Wednesday, the SDF called on the international community and all countries in the international coalition against ISIS to “carry out their responsibilities and avoid a possible impending humanitarian disaster.
According to multiple current and former U.S. officials, the White House's announcement blindsided not just America's Kurdish partners but almost everyone — senior officials at the Pentagon, the State Department and the White House, lawmakers on Capitol Hill, and U.S. allies in Europe and the Middle East.
The White House said in a statement on Sunday that Turkey would now be responsible for all ISIS fighters in the area captured over the past two years.
