Why not just allow full public nudity then? People should be allowed to post pictures of erect penises anywhere they want, because exactly what kind of tragedy is this supposed to trigger?

I seem to remember you identify as asexual (apologies if I'm mistaken) and thought you might be blissfully unaware of some of the less savoury aspects of sexuality. But, of course, you have internet access and a curious mind

I don't advocate that people go around nude, by the way....

There is, definitely, a prudish aspect within myself.

I was once in a "sports club" in the Netherlands. I wanted to go to the sauna, and go in a bathing suit----but it was required that I be nude. So I had to go in nude. I didn't feel all that great about it.

But the woman got her money, and deservedly so.

She got her money, her fun and made a point :)

I was very open on how my own cultural background colours my stance on this. But I still think it boils down to law: if it was illegal I would have had a different position.

All this woman did was go topless in her own yard.

For some women, I imaging that physical support and comfort are more of a consideration than submitting to some puritanical prude's idea of "decency".

As for covering up the genital-anal area, there may be some issues of sanitation involved (i.e., "skid-marks", et cetera).

So you're saying there is a sanitation issue involved with nudist colonies, beaches and saunas etc? How often does the health department get involved with that. Do they go to such places to inspect for skid-marks etc?

Yes in her front yard which is obviously fully exposed to anyone in the area within viewing distance.

At least in theory, we actually do. You can go around town naked granted you don't cause any trouble or upset people, but guess what, most people aren't interested in doing it. I think there's something lost in (the cultural) translation here.

First, we don't see nudity as being by default sexual and don't think of everything sexual, genitals included, as by default obscene, but only incidentally so.

I know it can be a blurry line, but you have art over there depicting naked people, right? Including photographs that are considered (hopefully rightfully so) art and not pornography?

The reason for these laws is that people love swimming, sunbathing and light exercising (table tennis is popular  ) in nature... au naturel; and of course sauna is sacred. It's inconvenient, unpleasant, not to mention unhygienic, to walk through the city or use public transport buck naked. Except for the kind of perverts that exist everywhere, people don't do it out of exhibitionism or desire to shock or upset and the designated places exist mainly so they can enjoy such innocent pleasures in peace.

I don't see you addressing the legal aspect though: don't you think that people who disagree or even wish to change the law have better avenues that posting rubbish on the internet and harassing this woman?

I would say I lean towards being aromantic. I might have confused that with being asexual. But even if I were, I would still know that many people get turned on by looking at bare feet for example.

I think the court made the right decision.

She was a grown woman in her yard. Threats were made.

People have to get a life if they will threaten someone over this. She’s not some pervert who molested a young boy, say.

What threats kinds of though? People keep talking about threats, but does anyone know what they were or by how many? How were they delivered? What if it was just a few nutjobs and or trolls being trolls? Are nutjobs and trolls being given validity? I mean I personally can't get upset over what was said, if I don't know what was said and by whom.

As for the neighbor, why do people assume that person was a man? What if it was an 80 year old lady?

Yeah....it would have been nice if the article had gotten into more detail....

Sure, it could have been an 80-year-old woman. If so, she should have minded her own business.

Topless is not quite the same as total nudity—both in the law and in practical terms.

I remember not so long ago when I was out for a walk with my dad, a homeless woman was disrobing out on the sidewalk right in front of the police station and her breasts were exposed, so he popped in and told them what was going on. Was that wrong of him?

The woman was in her own yard.

The homeless woman was right in front of a police station. She was nuts for doing that—and should be placed in the hospital for observation.

And....how much did the homeless woman actually “expose”?

So if someone sees someone in their front yard in full plain view doing something illegal (or they thought was illegal) they should just mind their own business?

She was in the process of disrobing to change into other clothing she had with her. I could tell she wasn't wearing a bra or underwear, but I didn't want to get too good of a look at a middle aged woman who was probably a tweaker. Not something I wanted a clear mental photograph of.

“I’ve gotten lots of threatening messages like, ‘You liberal scum’ and you know, all these other threatening messages, like ‘Where do you live so I can take pictures of you?’”

https://denver.cbslocal.com/2019/11/08/ ... ettlement/

Not nice things to say, but hardly threats of violence and certainly not death threats.

Why the added hyperbole cyberdad?

The woman didn’t rob someone. Or sell drugs.

She just went topless in her yard, playing frisbee. People who rat people out like that don’t have better things to do.

The homeless woman probably should have been taken to the hospital for observation.
