My best guess is that EzraS autism impairs his ability to detect trump’s less than socially acceptable behaviour so he just can’t see it.

If there’s another explanation, I’m all ears.

Most other Autistic people here don’t like Trump personally and there are plenty of NT’s that love Trump’s personality so Autism is probably not it.

I just think Ezra likes the contrarian role.

I would have expected from you a diet explanation :D

I'd have to look up what contrarian means.

Ezra is this Ezra is that. Label label label.

Perhaps I'm just too much of a rational thinker for some people.

Right.

"Under this proposed rule, people whose gross income is 130 percent above the federal poverty line (slightly more than $16,000 for one person) or have more than $2,250 in assets, will no longer qualify to receive federal food benefits"

However, $16,000 + $12, 400 (standard deduction) + any other tax deductions.

So, a little more than $28, 400 for a single person.

Of course, more with children, more for a spouse.

A family with children could make $50,000 and still qualify.

Surely true.

There are probably millions of people with $100,000+ in their bank accounts (Cash, CDs, IRAs ...), yet get unemployed, and suddenly qualify for food stamps. However, don't want to spend their money.

Trump is ending that.

Very few people are like that.

Very few people WANT to be on Food Stamps.

A couple of times, people wanted me to go to the store to buy them something using Food Stamps. I refused. Too embarrassed and shameful.

Supposedly, it's common practice at Walmarts.

I believe it's about Walmart employees being on SNAP.

You would want Food Stamps if you made minimum wage at Walmart.

I believe that was the point of the article. Walmart employs zillions and they all need SNAP because of the low wages WM pays. Which ends up costing tax payers billions. That includes the WM employees taxes as well of course.

Democrats appear to be outraged over everything he does.

Their bias makes them reach wrong conclusions.

Cutting food stamps, meals on wheels, rolling back LGBT rights, supporting voter suppression, and having way too cozy of relationships with the enemies of liberal democracy, etc, can't be interpreted in any other way but as deplorable.

When I read statements like that, I evaluate the allegations and often find inaccuracies, exaggerations, conjecture and so on. Which I point out. Which leads to be being accused of defending trump, when in fact I am arguing against what was claimed due to inherent flaws found in the claim. But it seems most of the time those parroting claims are far too driven by emotion to be resonable.

I forgot to add cut social security.
This stuff is all in the national news, and easy to investigate, and not driven by emotion. Trump has instigated tax cuts that made the rich richer, and had made promises to ordinary people of tax cuts that never materialized. Why is it so hard to believe that Trump wants to cut everything that helps ordinary people for the sake of making rich Republican donors wealthier at our expense?

When it comes to social security, I found a bunch of articles about Obama cutting social security. A lot of the time I find the things trump is doing or accused of doing that's presented as being so egregious, occurred during other administrations. But there seems to a Trump Time Bubble where much is viewed as starting with trump or being exclusive to trump, when it is not.

Trump's proposal is that a single person can have income of about $30,000 (potentially more with corresponding tax deductions), and still get food stamps. Additionally, Trump is putting a limit on a person's assets (this will make rich people ineligible).

is this unreasonable?

In fact a great many people on food stamps are working full time jobs, and some are even business owners (I personally know one). Despite this, wages have not kept up with the cost of living, and that's not even mentioning the huge bite medical care takes out of a person's budget. There is nothing amicable about Trump's food stamp cuts, and it's going to hurt far more than millionaire food stamp cheats.

$30,000 isn't a million, but it's a pretty good yearly wage for a single individual. My aunt makes around 30 k and was a single mother. She never applied for food stamps. She got by by being frugal and sensible. I bet there are single people who drive a fancy new car that's more extensive than they can afford who are on food stamps.

Does your aunt still have children at home? And what was the cost of living when she did?

Are you taking into account cost of living and medical coverage? Because those things can, and often do, leave people destitute.

She has one child who is my age. He works and pays his own expenses now.

You can't live on $30,000 a year in NYC.
