and? why the suspense....if the FBI found something in Hunter Biden's drive and/or emails then why are they sitting on it?

Potentially there is some investigation going on in the background, potentially nothing has been looked at on it, potentially no (or not enough) evidence of illegality was found, or maybe there is some other reason.

As I understand it, the current investigation reported on wasn't related to the contents of the laptop, but rather to how Mr Giuliani acquired a copy of them...

Well, if there is evidence of wrongdoing, then there may be an ongoing criminal investigation which the FBI may not be at liberty to discuss. This would especially be the case if the data was forged an/order acquired through hacking.

If there is no evidence of wrongdoing, then the data is private (and perhaps illegally obtained), and the FBI probably has to either destroy the data or return it to the owner.

Ok so either the investigation is finished or there is ongoing digging....point is I am trying to tie it back to the title of this thread that Hunter Biden makes the front page so I expected something was revealed.

Then if its ongoing then the election will come and go and nothing further will come of this

Some more background...It appears that Hunter Biden (or his lawyer) may have contacted the computer shop either on the night before, or the day of the first release of the emails in the paper, asking for the return of the hard drive (That could contribute to why there haven't been any denials of the information being released). The video caught my eye due to the possibility that the store was contacted at some stage much earlier and the owner may have "hidden" the fact he had a copy, but it appears that wasn't the case.

For those outside Australia, "Sky news" is a right-wing "pay-TV" station (some consider it the Australian version of "Fox"), so keep that in mind, but there is still some interesting information included. It also appears the releases will be continuing next week (at least Monday, anyway).

Isn't it most likely ....

1.someone hacked his computer.
2. put his files on a laptop.
3. impersonated him

Suspiciously, the computer store video is deleted.

Suspiciously, the computer store says the *owner* received the laptop drop-off and negotiated the receipt. Is he really doing day-to-day customer service?

Suspiciously, this *owner* is blind. Yet, he works customer service and does receipts? How?

Suspiciously, he doesn't present his phone bill to show the days/times he called the phone number on the receipt. It's so easy to get online.

Suspiciously ... many other things.

As I understand it (happy to be corrected (with link to source, please) on any relevent parts I'm mistaken on or have missed):
* Owner appears to be (at the least) not a fan of Mr Biden.
* The laptop(s)\Hard drives were taken to the shop in April 2019 - There is an image of an invoice with a signature from this time to support this claim.
* The store (and state law(?)) state that is left for 90+ days, items become propery of the store (abandonment laws?). This is outlined on the invoice, I believe.
* The security video footage from the store is automatically overwritten 60 days after recording, unless a copy is manually extracted - fairly standard, as used primarily in case of theft from store, and overwritten both as was not needed in whatever timeframe it is set up for, and to save on disk space.
* Following "abandonment" of laptop, it becomes "possesion" of store owner, and so contents are also "his".
* (speculation) some time after the 90 days (at which time contents become owner's "responsibility"), owner inspected drive(s) - There is a rumor that inapropriate child-related items were found on it, but this is unlikely.
* Some time in 2019 (possibly around the time that Hunter Biden was making news - October\November), owner contacted FBI as drive contained information which he thought may have had a bearing on what was being published.
* December 2019 - FBI Subpoena'd laptop\drive. Owner supplied the requested item(s) but kept a copy - There is an image of what is reported to be a copy of the subpoena from this time.
* September 2020 - (possibly August) a copy of the drive is supplied to Mr Giuliani (and I have heard rumors several other people may also have been supplied with copies).
* October 2020 - New York Post commences publishing a series of articles based upon contents of drive, having had some advance time to confirm details included for certain items.
* October 2020 - It is suggested that the lawyers for Hunter Biden may have emailed the store the night before the articles were published, requesting the return of the laptop\hard drive, potentially in responce to having been asked for comment regarding content of articles for publication the following day.
* October 2020 - Shop owner is interviewed, and states he cannot confirm whether it was Hunter Biden who left the laptops due to face blindness (difficulty\inability to recognise faces), and it being so long since the laptops were taken to store.

Thus far, no denial of the email contents being legitimate, nor how they were sourced, has been made by the Biden's, either.

So, yes, it is theoretically possible for what you suggested (hacked laptop, someone impersonating Hunter Biden leaving laptop at store, etc.). Whether it is probable, however, is a different question.

Keep in mind that the Australian media has greater integrity than that in America.

It would be nice to think that everyone would question what they hear in the media, rather than become more "accepting" of what is presented the closer it aligns with what they wish to believe (or less "accepting" if it disagrees)...But sadly that is not the case.

Its interesting that some people forgot this is a news forum so the source of news is primarily media organisations. It would be fair to say most of us don'r rely entirely on the news but you can triangulate information against known facts to build a picture. Simply accusing those who present news stories as being biased is simplistic as journalists have access to data and information not privy to us mere mortals.

So getting back to the developing story - the owner of the computer store, John Paul MacIsaac should be sued by Hunter Biden for a breach of privacy. I am not aware the client (Hunter Biden) consented to having his hard drive information being disseminated and shared with third parties - that certainly was not MacIsaac's right.

Even more interesting is that the same man is unable or unwilling to answer key questions about how the laptop supposedly arrived in his store, and eventually, how the data was shared with Giuliani.

According to CBS News they interviewed MacIsaac for almost two hours on Wednesday and throughout the interview he contradicted himself about his motivations which raising questions about the truthfulness of one of the central figures in the story.

We still haven't seen any proof that it was Hunter Biden's hard drive - or laptop - at all.

Nor have we seen any proof that the information given to the New York Post even came from the laptop.

The entire premise of the story is thus questionable.

MaIsaac is being more evasive than Kyle Rittenhouse. I am suggesting he has something to hide.

It is an interesting suggestion that they sue over "breach of privacy", but as I understand, in "abandoning" the laptop, the owner also abandons all right to "privacy" over the contents (much like throwing something containing private information in the rubbish also releases any "privacy" rights over it - use a shreder first), which is why lawyers sometimes have been known to pay people to go through other people's rubbish on behalf of a client.

In order to sue over "breach of privacy", they would also either have to admit that the information was accurate (they have been very careful to avoid questioning it's accuracy, or admitting it is accurate), and/or that the laptop was not theirs, and so had information that was not authorised to have been placed there by its original owner (which may be a problem if their lawyer has already emailed the shop asking for the return of the laptop).

As to how it arrived in the store - It was 18 months ago. I doubt many people could remember a customer in a store from that long ago, so that isn't too surprising. Also, given the shop owner isn't a fan of Mr Biden, he'd be unlikely to want to be too forthcoming with information to a news organisation which favors Mr Biden in their reporting...Much like a supporter of Mr Biden may react in an interview with Fox.
