The answer to my question is that there has never been a worldwide shutdown. Much less one of this magnitude and duration. Therefore it's unprecedented, as in hasn't happened before.

Hong Kong Flu, while pandemic, had exceptionally low mortality. Typically, seasonal flu takes 200.000-500.000 lives a year. Hong Kong flu took about 1.000.000 in two waves - despite being way more widespread than seasonal flu.

And it might make sense not to allow unvaccinated people to do various other things, perhaps. But criminal prosecution is a bad idea.

Apples and oranges. Autism isn't contagious.

Anyhow we already have "forced vaccinations" in the sense that kids are required to have proof of various vaccinations in order to attend school.

No not all such measures were taken in 1918 as have been implemented in 2020.

Saying that what's happening in 2020 is unprecedented isn't some kind of protest against it.
