Russian soldiers that invaded that site were interviewed and did not know about the history of the site. They were born after the nuclear accident had happened and were never told about it. All that they knew was that it was a valuable military target to capture. Putin helped give the majority of them a much shorter lifespan in the process. They will likely die of various cancers from exposure to radioactive dust that they disturbed. Thus the role of pawns in war.

They are also storing unsafe ammo in the region.

They do probably because they know Ukrainians won't shell there - but chances for an accident are... high.

According to Yaroslav Yemelianenko quoting Belarussian sources, Russian soldiers who have been digging trenches in the Exclusion Zone are now appearing in Belarussian Center for Radiation Medicine in Gomel... https://www.facebook.com/yaroslav.chern ... udCtwqPYcl

Who could think this would ever happen? :chin: Why shouldn't they dig trenches in a place where radioactive waste has been covered with a layer of soil to keep it under relative control? :chin: :chin:

Update: Exclusion Zone staff announces Russian army leaving the zone.

Quote:
It should be noted that the information about fortifications and trenches that the racists built right in the Red Forest, the most polluted in the entire Exclusion Zone, was also confirmed. So it is not surprising that the occupiers received significant doses of radiation and panicked at the first sign of illness. And it manifested itself very quickly. As a result, almost a riot broke out among the military, and they began to gather from there.

I wonder if they were told that radioactive soil was "fake news", or if they were told anything at all.

My friend, nuclear physicist, used to say that one would need to make quite an effort to get harmed by radiation in the Exclusion Zone nowadays... Well, Russian army did make that effort.

For me, trenches in the Red Forest make them deserve Darwin Award.

If they knew the risks and ignored them, then the Darwin Award is deservedly theirs.

But if they were not informed of the risks, or were told there were no risks, then they were like sheep being led to slaughter.

Either way, there had already been reports of poor morale among the Russian troops. This will not help that.
