I really am not a Uyghur. But my ethnic group is also one of the ten largest ethnic minorities in China.
My personal feeling in China is that I have suffered a kind of atrocities that forces uninterested young people to learn about their national culture. I have mentioned this in other threads.Minority cultural studies and archaeology have also been important sources of academic waste.They fund a variety of minority-related projects, while practical science is hard to come by.If TCM is ridiculous, then we have a whole bunch of more ridiculous minority medicines, including Uyghurs.

But your suggestion makes sense. This would require a lot of space to describe. I'll use some more intuitive examples in the future.

Being from a nation that survived attempts of cultural genocide, I may add - while cultural genocide is not nearly as bad as physical genocide, it's still something damaging and traumatizing for generations.
We need to be really considerate when discussing it.

I just saw too many incidents where the CCP emphasizes ethnic minorities. Like how some Democrats are emphasizing LGBTQ. As an intersection, this kind of political correctness strikes me as disgusting.

I think it's off-topic to talk about this in depth on this thread. I will look for a more suitable time.

Nations, like individual people, can be contradictory in behavior.

And a resident of China is not gonna get the same news diet and as we westerners get. And keep in mind that national news bias goes both ways.

Even in western media I have read about how China's old and harsh "One Child Policy" was exempted for "certain ethnic minority groups". So thats a true example of Beijing being sensitive to minorities.

But Skinned Wolf I am sure doesnt get the reports we get about China oppressing Uighurs and Tibetans.

But by the same token - I am surprised to hear that China has policies that sound a lot like "affirmative action"- the US govt. policies of favoring minority groups that have suffered historic discrimination- like American Blacks. You never hear about China doing that for minorities here in western media. And (thanks to the internet) I am actually talking to someone who benefitted from this Chinese version of Affirmative Action!

Because the CCP has made a lot of targeted response propaganda.
I can bypass filtering. I've also read the link in the Uyghur section of WIKI.
That's why I distrust American propaganda so much.

I hope someone has a suggestion on where I should go to talk about this.

The new problem is that most young people have lost the will to have one. China's fertility rate is heading towards lower than Japan and South Korea (maybe already lower?)
