Was that during the War of Independence? You're lucky you didn't know the really vicious Tudor and Stuart kings earlier in history.

Yes. That was the one we fought against in our war of Independence.

There was a very interesting movie about that called "The Madness of King George".

It will be interesting to watch the funeral ceremonies, and to watch the coronation. The last one took place 70 years ago in 1952. QEII is the longest reigning monarch of England. Second lonest in the world. King King Louis XIV of France reigned for 72 years (he became king at the age of 5).

Well I feel pretty sad. The Queen was the last stable and continuing thing in Britain. Everything is in chaos and I don't know what's going to happen now.

You're right about Louis XIV, he became King aged 5.

I honestly think Charles probably paid her to poison the queen so he could snatch the crown.

Let's stop the nasty conspiracy theories. I've deleted my comment. Let's just keep it respectful.

My condolences to her subjects or at least least her subjects that are royalists.

I have always been an anglophile in certain areas. The Royals have never been one of those areas and am glad we broke away but I have never had any hostility to that institution. The lady and she was a lady in all the positive old fashioned meaning of that word, lived a full life. I am glad before she passed she got to enjoy her jubilee. In the clips I saw she looked like she was really having fun with it.

No doubt the Brits do ceremony better then anybody.
