Well... I could believe it, but I would like not to, LOL. I actually was a very hateful and judgmental person during adolescence. I was an atheist at the time, and I was happy with that, but I wasn't happy with the world that I lived in and the species I was part of.

I'm an extremely spiritual person now and nature is the stick against which I measure all else. I believe that much of the darkness, pain, and despair that is settling over humanity comes from a deliberate removal of mankind from the natural world. Animals and children are closer to the ideal state of being, from my point of view. That's why most conservative ideas disagree with me - they must be learned. They aren't in sync with instincts.

My response to the whole evolution vs. creation thing has been, "Man did not evolve from ape; he devolved from child."

My morals revolve around happiness and inner peace. I don't believe a person can achieve true peace while they still harbor rage and disdain for others. Prejudice doesn't just injure its targets, to me - it injures the very soul of the person whom it possesses.

My concern is not against any individual. It is directed at the profusion in society at large and i am certain that this is not a natural phenomena but rather due to media and very powerful people setting up institutions calling for homosexual rights ostensibly set up by the people but in fact instigated and directed by powerful interests.

Due to the decline of Christianity and the profusion of new age and even satanic forces in our society it would seem that those in their greater wisdom have directed that in the final days, baldy man would love baldy man.

It is not just homosexuality as a perversion that is now growing profusely but also orgy's, non loving sex and bestiality, soon to follow will be pedophilia.

You know Eialune, you have loved and had sex with just one man and i am sure you are glad and yet for others you say it is fine to f**k whatsoever you want to just so long as the being is capable of saying "yes". Perhaps you are being FAR too politicaly correct so much so that you are blinded and advocating a position you seem proud not to be in yourself.

Oh, not really. And I'm SO not politically correct. My concern is with people finding true love - not sex per se. I've never known anyone, straight or gay, who had sex with anyone they were physically attracted to and still managed to be happy. In those situations, I think the sex is pretty much being used as a drug. Biochemically, sex has a calming and pleasurable effect on one's body, so overindulging in it is no different than seeking biochemical pleasure through alcohol, cigarettes, or any other drug.

On the other hand, I have known two homosexual males who just wanted to find the kind of relationship my husband and I found - dedicated and committed. One of these men actually left his partner because his partner kept trying to encourage him to have threesomes and more casual sex. I comforted him through this. All he wanted was to find someone to share the rest of his life with. But his partner was mainly interested in using sex for physical pleasure. The second man has been in a relationship with his partner for many years. They love each other. Sex for them is simply a way of physically sharing the bond that they feel emotionally.

Once again, it's a matter of separating supposition from knowledge. Gay does not equal promiscuous and does not equal anal sex - if your problem is founded on the latter of those two, it isn't an objection to homosexuality. It's an objection to placing physical pleasure in higher standing than love and closeness.

I place love and closeness above physical pleasure and social expectations. It isn't the right for gays to "f**ck whoever they want," it's the right to be with the person they find to share their soul with, regardless of their physical anatomy. Anatomy should NOT be a factor in moral or ethic judgments, in my opinion, because it's far too impermanent. After all, someone with a congenital birth defect, amputation, or illness is not responsible for the way those things effect their physical appearance. What matters is who they are inside, and that has very little to do with whether their gonads hang down or hide inside.

Homosexuality has not increased with time - there are records of its existence from prehistory onwards, and as I said it occurs in all species, not just mankind. What has increased is our awareness of it.

I don't confuse biological traits like sexuality and sex organs with psychological ones, like ethics and gender identity. A gay man who lives promiscuously is just as self-destructive as a straight woman with the same lifestyle, and I would be inclined to form the same opinion of them, because I base my opinions on psychological aspects of a person's identity rather than physical ones, which are beyond our control. Flesh is flesh and spirit is spirit.

I think self-gratification is what has grown more prevalent in our culture, not *who* you choose to sleep with but *why* you choose to sleep with them.

As for the decline in Christianity? Entire ethnic groups and religions have been destroyed by Christians in the past. I honestly don't see how such a decline could do anything except save some of those lives and culture. The last thing I want to see is another Crusade or Inquisition.

Of course, I don't think this is a flaw with the Christian faith itself as it is a flaw of its earthly institutions and practices. Christianity = all right! Organized churches = controlled by man and therefore capable of corruption. Too many Christians are more concerned with the word of their fellow man than with the words of the divine.

The crusaders where bastardizing Christianity to suit their European racist, bloodthirsty and thieving ways.

Thanks to these guys, homosexual adoption has been set back another 10 years. Unfortunately these B-words lived in the same town as my Dad, Pontefract. Also, to those who are saying slightly homophobic things, remember that we too are a misunderstood and critisized minority group who cannot control the way we are.

Any mention of 'political correctness' makes me laugh. It's essentially a myth put forward by those who would like to see a reversal of any loosening of the white Christian patriarchal stranglehold which has happened over the years. Just another thread in the tapestry of Control. Whilst this was undoubtedly an horrific event, I'm a little disappointed by some of the prejudice shown above. As has already been said, I would expect members of a marginalised minority group to appreciate why society has to take certain measures to redress the social balance. It's just unfortunate that in doing so there are occasional disasters, but I think this raises important questions about the implementation of equal opportunities policies in every walk of life.

As a little aside, I live in Britain, a country which while nominally Christian is in reality one of the most secular countries in the world. I wonder how the cross-demoninational Christian minority would react if I were to dismiss any attempt to safeguard their rights as 'political correctness'? Worth a thought. Incidentally this isn't a rant against Christian beliefs; I come from a staunchly Catholic family and have many religious friends. I just hate to see people's beliefs and fears both being exploited to defend the interests of the REAL shadowy elites.

I'm kind of sad that I just joined this forum today and had to read through some of the most pathetic and hatred filled garbage I've ever come across. Number one, what was the point of the original post? It all seemed a bit sensationalist to me without any real explanation of why it was posted. Number two, I'm raelly surprised that the moderators of this website would allow the members to have such violent views expressed and continue to let them be a part of this group. I understand that everyone doesn't have the same views as me but I also understand that calling someone disgusting, unnatural, or sick isn't really doing anyone any good.

You know, back in the 1940's, the Nazi party would have rounded up many of the autistics and sent them away to concentration camps for not being "normal." See where being narrow minded leads? As we are already part of a minority in this world, it would seem like we ought to appreciate a person's different-ness rather than persecuting them for it.

People like manalitwist will always be around, unfortunately, but I'd like to think that he'll be in the minority someday.

Welcome sonny1471,

I hear what you are saying and for the most part I agree, however I think free speech is important for us all and perhaps self moderation would be best excercised, don't you?
peace j

I think free speech is an awesome thing that we're afforded by the constitution of the US, but there is a difference between free speech and hate speech. Feel free to have a healthy and knowledgable discourse about any subject you wish. Feel free to give your opinion. However, I think it would be better if everyone came from an educated position and not just spouting off random ideas with no factual basis. As I've read elsewhere on this site, there are a lot of impressionable young people here and the last thing anyone needs is for someone to advocate hate towards anyone.

I'm glad I live in the US where we're basically "free" to think and do as we please. That's what this country was founded on. Contrary to SOME people's opinions, this country was not founded on Christianity.

Again, let me reiterate that I'm all for free speech, just don't use that privilege to advocate hate and yes, use moderation in all things. Buddhism said that best... :)

Welcome! Please don't let these threads influence your opinion of the site overall - for some reason people insist on posting political commentary in the News Forum rather than the Politics Forum. It would be nice if a forum moderator could step in and steer things back on course.

The other Forums, though, are generally not hate-slinging propaganda wankfests. There are a lot of amazingly complex and supportive individuals here. I've found this place to be very helpful.

Buddhism FTW. It just tickles me silly to see people say, "Well all organized religions have their dark histories of violence and conquest." Because somehow I can't picture a gaggle of Buddhist monks breaking their meditations to take up swords and lead an army.

Well... I can picture it, and it's hilarious. 8O

Thanks Eialune... I explored some of the other boards before I got to the news one so I have seen the "brighter" side of WP and I'm glad it's here for sure.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever heard of Buddhists raisings arms and conquesting anything. Totally opposite to their entire way of thought. Of course, lots of people say that about Christians too. :)

Oh, and I'm sure this will open another can of worms, but I just can't resist. Usually when a person is so anti-anything, it's because it is something they fear inside themselves. Classic denial mechanism. I absolutely love educated discourse about just about any subject so I'm at least glad that there are those on this forum who can do that. I just wish some were more educated than others. ;)

So erm lets get this straight, you just joined to try to wrench me away from my community and stifle my right to free speech because you disagree with what i have to say?

manalitwist... I certainly didn't join to wrench you away from YOUR community. Actually, if given the choice, I have a feeling many of the people of OUR community might choose to exclude someone with such limited views of the world. As I said in SEVERAL of my posts, free speech is a privilege afforded to everyone here in the US and much of the free world. You can have whatever opinion you want, as I've said in other posts. I posted on this thread specifically because I wanted to express a viewpoint that differs from yours. I'd like to think my viewpoint is more enlightened than yours. Actually, I KNOW it is. But again, you can have whatever uninformed opinion you choose. Your right as a free thinking individual.

I'll be one of the first in line to admit that MY country (I have no clue in what country YOU'RE living) has A LOT of problems so there is no drum banging here. If anything, I'm banging my drum for free speech. Not my country. Oh, and definitely full of something. It's called intelligence.

I had a distinct feeling that you'd be posting a retaliatory response to my posts. I'm glad you did. And your YAWN pathetic YAWN attempts to project your YAWN boredom with my views is rather sad.

I do hope you continue posting to this thread because all you've managed to do so far is prove the depth of your ignorance. Please... continue. :)
