Same here! I used to think Barbies were a negative influence, but after Bratz, I don't really think they're all that bad anymore. At least in comparison.

Most kids are interested in where babies come from including my niece they just don't all know how they're conceived.....
So do I but I was never interested in it. I preferred Barbie with her regular tummy. Of course it didn't teach me about sex. Little kids are going to look at it and see it as the baby being in her tummy, not having sex and that was how she got it. Little kids don't know those things until they are older.
No, it doesn't. People here are letting their personal feelings get in the way of their common sense. This is a simple copyright case, and in my opinion the judgment widely expands the definition of derivative works, not a good thing for certain creative people. What irks me is that people cannot seem to set aside their personal distaste for the Bratz dolls and consider the case strictly on it's legal merits. It reminds me of a few months back when the pornographer Max Hardcore was facing jail time on a seriously sketchy obscenity charge. I was virtually the only person screaming that this was wrong and would have ramifications beyond this one case, because no one could seem to get past their dislike of a pornographer who specializes in degrading films.
Further, this will not make slu*ty dolls go away. Bratz are a multi-billion dollar line, no company on earth is going to leave that sort of money on the table. Mark my words, Mattel, MGA or both will have new, possibly even skankier children's toys on the market long before the supply of Bratz is interrupted, so even for the morality police this is a hollow "victory", if even that.

They already do: See my earlier posts about the various tarty barbies.
I agree.. this is not about whether Bratz are a good or bad thing morally, and I'll wager that fact was never mentioned in the case.

It reminds me of a imaginary play game some of the kids came up with on Club Penguin. Some would pretend to be babies, and some would pretend to be adults. So they'd go to the adults' igloo to be "birthed". It seems kind of weird and sort of unnerving to me, but you're right, I'm sure it's out of a innocent wondering of where babies come from, and things like that.
I don't see how this is copyright infringement. Its like saying Star Wars action figures (big in my 70's childhood) were some sort of infringement of GI Joe (action figures popular in 60's).
That said I hate the Bratz dolls and the Bratz cartoon show I saw. But I don't see how this lawsuit is gonna stop the current slutifying of toys and young girls. Young girls are just tramps these days because they idolize whores like Brittany, dressing like street hookers who show their bodies to every stranger on the street and sleep with one guy after the next. No wonder women get no respect and the divorce rate is nearly 60% because women are so disposable.

i agree, even though some would say it's sexist. girls seem to look up to the wrong things and the corporations behind what's in everyone's faces live off it. look at the p**** cat dolls for example "when i grow up i want to be famous, drive fast cars, i want to have boobies", they're already grown up which means they're talking from a child-like point of view meaning little girls will think, once again, will think being slu*ty whores is what will get them further in life.
on the copyright issue i can see it from both sides, but you could say barbie has found out how to get rid of their biggest rival and taken the easy way out. i'm not sure what's copywritten about it, but i think it's be better if they were both taken off the market along with everything else degrading society.

Hopefully parents don't let their kids listen to The Pussycat Dolls. There's also the concept that they might make a Kidz Bop cover of the song, in which I imagine they'd remove the boobies line. Although girls don't really see breasts as sexual, they see them more like a sign of being an adult. I don't know really what the male version of that would be, but I think the way the Pussycat Dolls are singing about it, is more like about the excitement of being grown up. Maybe cause they're adults men will insinuate a sexual aspect to it, but I doubt a little girl would understand it that way.
The infringement is such: Mattel claim intellectual property rights to the Bratz line, because they claim it was invented by a man working for them at the time of its conception. Thus the idea belongs to them, and selling it to someone else deprives them of their due. Just to clarify.
The actual reason is Mattel had a big rival who was outselling them. They wanted them shut down.

my parents didn't want me to watch eighteen certificate movies when i was six yet that didn't stop me waiting up all night or picking videos off the shelf, i also freely watched porn here and there without them knowing too.
i knew a guy a few years older than me who let me listen to his eminem album, even though i was just a kid at the time i managed it meaning kids even younger can do it these days too.
there's no warning when it comes to advertisements or music videos and so any child can view it.

STOP THINKING.. they own you until you leave.
Sums it up.
I think it was a bit lame to be honest. Not that I liked the dolls or anything.
I can buy some and sell them on ebay as retro in 10 years. Woo.

Sure sounds like Mattel... suing people for things that aren't even close to their product for copyright "infringement".
