hey guys it cuts both ways - if you don't want religious fundamentalists to b***h about your lifestyle choices, don't b***h about theirs? k thanks.

this entire thread is sickening in that there hasn't been a word of support or understanding, just crap about how they're ignorant, religiously brainwashed, cultish, abusive, based on the fact that they're christians.

they clearly have the money to do this; more power to them. we need more children. we're headed for a global population catastrophe - the human species is dangerously close to breeding below replacement rate, which is ridiculous in a society that at its best can get 80% of it's newborns to survive to adulthood.

What planet are you living on? We are overpopulated, not underpopulated. And we aren't criticizing them for being Christian we are criticizing them for having so many kids that they CAN'T take care of them and have to assign older kids to do the work for them.
And just so we are clear, if you religion is ridiculous and harmful to humanity as a whole, it is deserving of criticism.

They are not in any debt...(I've watched shows on them) I find that so hard to believe!! ! That stuns me...

Please spare us that mental abuse. :P

Yeah, why pass judgment or make assumptions about people you've never even met? How do their beliefs or "lifestyle choices" affect you?

I'm just the resident librarian here - providing information from other sites in response to people's queries. :)

I'm curious as to the Duggar family's religious affiliation. I also hope, for all their sakes, that the TLC Network is going to help them raise all those kids.

For God's sake, man-- get a vasectomy!
TLC has done specials on them. They believe that "God should decide how many children they have" (to paraphrase) They don't believe in birth control, and sadly, every time she gets pregnant or has another baby, the media goes nuts. I don't know why. eventually she's gonna run out of religious names to name them!

The family seems to be very religious. They have to pick a certain partner but the parents don't pick a spouse for their child. They watch very little TV and they do family activities. They even wear certain clothes. The parents mentioned they own a few places they rent out so that's how they also make their money. But they also have to keep them maintained.

Don't believe in birth control? No wonder she has so many kids. It's not like she planned them. They were unexpected because she chose to make love.

Yes, it does. With every new addition, the quality of life is reduced for all of them. It's like how smaller class-sizes are better for students because they get more individua attention. Having really huge families is not a good idea, unless you can grow your own food, make your own clohes, educate yourselves, provide independant healthcare somehow ...

That's because they are.
They actually believe that this is god's work, if that isn't a case of brainwashing, I don't know what is. One of the girls also fell for it and wants to have kids after kids like her mom.

I can understand it if they just love children that much, the least they could do is be more christ-like and look after the children that are already here, many children need homes.

God should not be given any thanks or praise when a child is born because it is the parents that created it, not god.

And you know this because? And how do you know god is even offended? Such a being would have no right to be offended if the credit (for a baby) was not his. If he wants to claim credit for these 18 children, then let him step forward and do so.
Even if God were real, no person on Earth has any business claiming they are his proxy.

I guess you aren't able to consider other people's points of view, when it comes to not being religious or a God worshipper. So I appreciate that God is able to show forgiveness and understanding, where you aren't.
