To be fair, don't you think he should do the same?
I don't recall attacking him personally but the responses he's made to most people here are more likely going to get a reaction..
Also, I have not seen many members here attack him the same way he has been attacking other members. I'm willing to accept that SM isn't a horrible person but he's so far hasn't shown most members here who disagree with him much respect in words of refute.

This is true. I am not sure what posts that Ed has read, but I have seen slowmutant cross the line. He basically adds insult to injury by not giving any explanation to his opinions, just a "I am right" or "NO! You are wrong". I have pegged him many times on this.
There is a difference in having a opinion and saying that you have the undisputible answer without backing it up. This is a no-no in my book.

This topic is supposedly about the North Dakota House passing legislation that would outlaw abortions in all cases. That's the topic I've read. In this topic slowmutant has not attacked anybody. He did snap at ruveyn once, when he and I had just agreed on a partial compromise, and ruveyn jumped all over him, because he hadn't suddenly become pro-choice. Your views (collectively) are just as dogmatic as his. You will accept no limits on a woman's right to choose.
You need to look at things from his perspective. Imagine that you had been brought up on religion, and accepted it completely. Imagine that a major part of that religion was the belief that life begins at conception, and at that point it becomes a human being, endowed by God with a soul. If you can imagine that, it should be easy to see why he would be horrified at people snuffing out these living people.
You also need to look at your own viewpoints, and see that they are just as one-sided and dogmatic as his.
It's foolish to argue with him (or many others here) about abortion. Your viewpoints are so extreme in opposite directions that you can't possibly agree on anything. All you can possibly do is antagonize each other.
Why don't we all expend all this energy usefully, by making it more possible for a woman to choose to carry her baby? Not propaganda one way or the other, but real, physical and monetary, help. I should think a reduction in the number of abortions would be good news for both sides here.

I think it's time to stop picking on slowmutant.......
I've been following his posts for quite a while now, and discovered early on that his views on topics involving religion are nowhere near as extreme as those alot of our members hold. He is even willing to talk compromise on a lot of these issues. His view of the world is very different than an Atheist's, because his religion is a basic part of him. Even if you disagree with his religion, you should admire the way he lives it.

Bulls**t, slowmutant claims to be a christian and yet is one of the most judgemental and damning writers on this forum. I have yet to see him compromise on anything and many of his views on women are nothing short of repulsive.
