Yes he was referring to Indo-Europeans. I know that India is part of Asia geographically, but he was talking about genetics not geography. So its possible for people in India to be genetically more similar to people in Europe despite the fact that India is geographically in Asia -- due to all the migration. .

There is a difference genetically between ancestry and similarity profile.

According to Reich there are two populations in India - ancestral north Indians and ancestral south Indians. Reich and his collaborators demonstrated that ancestral north indians are descendants of Indo-European speaking semi-nomadic herders whereas ancestral south Indians are descendants from paleolithic dravidian speaking farmers who entered India. This is ancestry.

Th problem with this narrative is does not take into account phylogeny. The DNA profile of all people living in South Asia is very similar. There is a south Asian genetic profile which is the result of paleolithic Dravidian settlers which is indigenous to South Asia (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka). Even for people living on the remotest border of Pakistan their south Asian genetic fingerprint is 60%. For people further south it's closer to 100%. Being an Indo-European speaker does not make you Indo-European.

This is like Britain, being a celtic speaker or English speaker doesn't make you celtic or Anglo-Saxon. The indigenous paleolithic genetic profile of Britians ranges from 60-90% which means the genetic contribution from celts, romans, vikings and anglo-saxons was always minimal.

A number of my Indian (mostly Punjabi) coworkers have it. So do a lot of Armenian celebrities. Someone might smack me for saying this but a lot of Arab folks have it too. I think it's a pretty typical feature for a number of ethnic groups; ironically these groups often aren't considered to occupy the same race despite a number of shared physical traits. Central Asia's history is defined by different peoples interacting and mixing in different ways (lol generic history)

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
bly, do enact as follows:

1 Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 79-n of the civil rights law, as
2 added by chapter 227 of the laws of 2010, is amended to read as follows:
3 2. Any person who intentionally selects a person or property for harm
4 or causes damage to the property of another or causes physical injury or
5 death to another or summons a police officer or peace officer without
6 reason to suspect a violation of the penal law, any other criminal
7 conduct, or an imminent threat to a person or property
, in whole or in
8 substantial part because of a belief or perception regarding the race,
9 color, national origin, ancestry, gender, religion, religious practice,
10 age, disability or sexual orientation of a person, regardless of whether
11 the belief or perception is correct, shall be liable, in a civil action
12 or proceeding maintained by such individual or group of individuals, for
13 injunctive relief, damages, or any other appropriate relief in law or
14 equity. If it shall appear to the satisfaction of the court or justice
15 that the respondent has, in fact, violated this section, an injunction
16 may be issued by such court or justice, enjoining and restraining any
17 further violation, without requiring proof that any person has, in fact,
18 been injured or damaged thereby. For the purposes of this subdivision, a
19 person lacks reason to suspect a violation of the penal law, any other
20 criminal conduct, or an imminent threat to a person or property where a
21 reasonable person would not suspect such violation, conduct, or threat.

22 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.

Just out of curiosity would any of these have resulted in Christian Cooper being charged? or are they aimed at future Amy Coopers?

I'm doubtful on the second count...Christian seems to have been "rewarded" for his actions, as far as I can tell, so the incident has probably re-inforced his belief that there was nothing wrong with his words or actions.

The number 22 means ducks. Look closely at their shape as you are getting sleeeeepy.
You may use 22 in my stead, as needed.
