On the one hand that's good -- it means this is much less dangerous that was widely believed. On the other hand, it makes me really wonder about false positives. "Coronavirus" is a category, and I wonder how successful they really are at distinguishing the Wuhan Coronavirus 2019 from others.

If you study the work of Dr Andrew Kaufman (as I have), Exosomes can give "false positives" on the Covid 19 tests:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=roDGPZMev7s

Exosomes are usually present when one has an underlying condition like cancer, diabetes or heart disease.

Added to that, those testing kits come from China and many more have been returned to China with countries saying they are faulty...the plot thickens.

That's why I believe a lot of the projections, statistics, curves etc is based upon a faulty premise in the first place.

You should be perfectly entitled to not wear a facemask.

Australia was very late in enacting lockdown laws but adherence to social distancing is all it took. Nobody except Chinese people and the very old wear masks here. That amounts to a couple of of percent of the population.

We have a measly 70 deaths in a population of 25 million so far and our death rate is getting close to zero in many states. Not exactly a resounding advertisement for walking around with face masks looking like Darth Vader for no reason.

We are few weeks away from easing of restrictions. I pay no heed to the mask wearers, I keep my distance from everyone.

I am probably the only one who enjoys wearing a face mask, sunglasses and a cap whilst leaving my mobile phone at home in the attempt to play "urban ninja" whilst giving the middle finger to Bill Gates' facial recognition surveillance system...thinking about how Muslim women who wear burquas not only have to not worry having a "bad hair day" but now, facial masks are built in to their attire!

I live in Melbourne and I have counted maybe two caucasians over the past two months wearing facemasks and they were both probably in their 80s

This is scaring me as much if not more then COVID.

All my followup appointments have been postponed because all the doctors no matter what specialty have been called in for hospital duty. This means I am not getting my scans when I am supposed to. Things like my cancer reoccurring could be happening that I don’t know about that won’t be picked up.

I am definitely reluctant about going to the ER if the need arises. Why would I want go into that overcrowded noisy Petri dish just to be ignored or if not ignored have a high chance of mistakes being made by burnt out staff? I do know people that definitely need to see a doctor toughing it out at home because of this. I know people who are severely disabled, in a lot pain forced to tough it out because there are no elective surgeries..

They're quite anti-Trump, but to claim they're left-wing is to ignore how they actually cover left-wing causes and progressive politicians. They're deeply establishment, populists like Sanders and fake populists like Trump terrify them, but it doesn't make them left-wing.

The ABC, here in Australia, is heavily left-wing.
Are you an Australian, btw?

Not one journalist isn't left-wing oriented.
This is well known, here.
By their charter, they *must* be politically impartial, but they aren't. <shrug>

Many people want them to be privatised.
Then they can be as partisan as they want.

I resent my tax dollar being used in this way.

Interesting to read the comments below
The common theme is that it's un-American to treat a person trying to exercise their freedom to catch a bus

Not the only one.
I actually enjoy being a commando shopper. :ninja:
I've actually got a bandana with the bottom of a skull printed on it.
Mover over "Tombstone". (A character in one of the First Person Shooter games I have played)

I have played another game called: "The Last of Us".
The premise in that game reminds me of the CV scourge.
I actually enjoy the self-protection protocols these days.
It is like a survivalist game in real life.

The problem is,
It looks like Australia has cracked the back of the coronavirus.
It is almost game over, here in Oz. :(

But seriously, I am relaxing my precautions a small amount, now.
The economic situation, here in Australia, now seems to be the main villain.

I prefer wearing a mask,
But more for "Personal Responsibility", than protection,
Though both are important, for someone my age.

Wearing a mask reduces the amount of spittle, that contaminates the environment, even when simply talking.
There have been a lot of people "asymptomatic" spreading the virus around without them knowing it.
I guess I am more responsible than most.

Call me the "eternal pessimist" but I am waiting to see what excuse ScoMo is gonna give next for keeping all these draconian restrictions in place when the number of covid cases reaches 0.

Surely he could relax the bans on sunbathing in public spaces and sitting on the beach or on a park bench if you are keeping your obligatory 6 feet "social distance" without having to be engaged in exercising.

Surely he can relax the bans on going camping with family or a small group of close friends...and also, children visiting their parents and vice versa if they all respect the social distancing stuff..

Surely he can give some incentive for small business to open their doors...even with restricted trading hours and store limits in place...

Surely Covid tests can be part of a national screening process like they do for Bowel Cancer for the over 50's..

What gets me is that over half the cases in New South Wales has come either from passengers on infected cruise ships from overseas or from three nursing homes around the state, while the rest has come from Italy or China within the past two months..and the relatives of those people. Does the government really think that two week's quarantine is gonna be enough? I would have extended that one for a month...and for this..for THIS our whole economy gets shut down, almost a million out of work, others forced to work from home, children cannot go to school..and the online programs to teach them all from home crashes on day 1.

Something just isn't kosher about all of it.

My understanding is that individual states have a lot to say about the degree of what is and isn't permissible.
Each state/territory has its own autonomy.
Some want to change this.

Early on, NSW and Victoria went on their own merry way, leaving Morrison unimpressed at the disunity.

I tend to be more cautious, than Andrew.
Just to err on the side of safety.

I totally agree.
But more so.
There should be unlimited testing where there is evidence of transmission.

BTW,
They are screening sewage to identify CV outbreaks.
It is the same technology used to screen for drug usage.

P.S.
Sympathies for you parents.

I heard about that sewage testing thing, but I am still trying to understand the logistics of it. How do they know whose poo contains the virus if they need to test thousands of poos? Yep, I think way too much for my own good...Aspie side effect GO!

Lol @ "Superchicken"

They tell me that I signed up for this role before I was born...they tell me it was all part of this thing called a "Soul Contract" now either I don't remember signing it or I didn't read the "fine print".
