shades of me: do you know how many animal shelter animals were killed last year for no other reason than they were not adopted soon enough? MILLIONS. yes, peta kills animals, it's not possible to save them all. no-kill shelters, you ask. they're great for the animals that are accepted. any animal shelter is full very soon after opening. so you either destroy the ones that are the hardest to adopt or you stop taking in animals. most no-kill animal shelters turn away 95% or more of animals that are brought to their doors. so, what to do? its a very tough question. you obviously have no clue about how peta operates. I DO

no one forces women to make ads for peta. no one forces them to attend protests supporting peta. THEY DO IT BECAUSE THEY ARE TIRED OF ANIMALS BEING ABUSED AND WANT TO SHOW HOW MAD THEY ARE. once again, me- hades is clueless.

My aspie gift is actually the ability to communicate with animals...Especially felines.
Their language actually is far evolved from that of most humans. It takes a keen sensitivity.

I used to support PETA when I was young and naive but after much reading and research
have found that the negative propaganda, as horrendous as some of it is, is true.

Better to support:

Feline Friends or/and ASPCA

I remember when Steve Irwin (Croc Hunter) died and PETA bashing Steve Irwin. It angered me. The man lost his life and left behind two small children. PETA has no sense. Comparing Steve Irwin to a animal abuser? Hardly think he abused animals.

I totally get animal advocacy, my maternal grandmother founded the Phoenix chapter of the ASPCA and I grew up playing with her rescue animals, but people can do so much better than PETA. I think Penn and Teller in particular really put a fork in them, but making them look foolish is not exactly hard to do, most of the time they do it to themselves.

Just let me know if you want to change anything in the post or title to make things more clear. I think your time for edits is over, but I've got tools. Up to you.

Sure there may be some innocent bystanders when the lab or whatever was destroyed but to me, this is holly war. No one complains when people bomb abortion clinics.

WHOAH. What gives you the idea that "no one complains when they bomb abortion clinics?" The LAW, and most others, do.

Wrong is wrong. NEVER commit an injustice in the name of fighting a different one. When you do that, you've lost the war in all the real and important ways.

There is ALWAYS a better way to make your point and acheive the goal.

Cats dont use tools. Cats dont create things. Cats dont have a language. I agree that humans are another species of animal, but as a human I am perfectly fine with wearing animal skin and eating animals. Animals also have violence, but lack the intelligence to use tools for killing.

(For the sake of convenience I am referring to non-humans as animals)

Be careful with that argument. It can be applied to humans who are severely handicapped or injured. You really don't want to go there, do you?

Living things are living things. There should always be respect from that fact alone.

It is in weighing the respect against all the practical needs of survival and the reality of the circle of life that the debate lies.

We are in a place as a society where our survival needs are sufficiently met for us to assign compassion and restraint to the creatures we utilize in the food and supply chain. At minimum, we can all recognize that and make purchase decisions accordingly. The old fashioned, vote with your wallet thing.
