150 dead after Germanwings jet crashes in the French Alps
I think most people suffering from depression (or other mental problems) are shocked too. It's not essentially a suicide, but mass murder. He could have chosen another method.

NBC is saying this morning that depression may have caused the co-pilot to do this----and, that he recently broke-up with his girlfriend. I've seen people all over the web, arguing as to whether suicide is a selfish act----I'm thinking this would be on the side of selfish.....

"What we know is a drop; what we don't know, is an ocean." (Sir Isaac Newton)
Most people are not faking depression, fatigue, anxiety … and no people are faking tourettes, schizophrenia, autism - some minds just are wired different way, like using a back route to a destination instead of the main roads.
So-called 'normal' people have their tendency to dismiss, ignore, deny, despise, mock, diminish the differences and conditions in mind … and then they are shocked when a depressed pilot gets a panic attack (or any other form of deepening of the depression) and decides to end it all, 'here and now'.
I think people still have choices, and sometimes people choose evil. Yes these are serious conditions and real and to be honest there is still a lot to be discovered in why these conditions occur. There has always been a stigma with mental problems and that still exists, but it only gets worse for the rest of us. One small part goes berserk and then everyone else gets a finger pointed at them.
And I think he was planning it, he was just waiting for an opportunity, and maybe it could just as well have happened on a previous or later flight.
Antwoord is a "het-woord", a neuter-gender word
But even locals make mistakes like this, it is often not very clear what the gender of a word is without looking it up in a dictionary. I think Dutch was half into the process of losing gender like English, but then they invented the printing press.
Haha I knew I would probably mess it up somewhere
Swedish is a lot easier of a language grammatically than Dutch, but also a poorer language. You have a lot more colorful phrases and words.
Ah, you learned the swear words first
I remember I could almost read Swedish, but the grammar and words are different enough that I couldn't understand. When I was in Denmark it felt almost as if the people spoke the same language, but in a manner that was always just beyond my understanding. (I know Danish is a different language, but it sounds similar to Swedish and Norwegian).

Those are my thoughts as well. Depression or not, there are no excuses for murdering 150 innocent lives. They included two infants and 16 teenagers returning from a sports event. I find it unimaginable that the copilot could have done this. Only a person with a total disconnect with reality could have done this. People suffering from depression don't just lose their sense of humanity.
It's not hard to jump off a tall building onto an empty street and harm no one but yourself (suicide).
Crashing a plane full of people on purpose is murder, and no different than say, what Adam Lanza did.
Except that jumping off a tall building is not guaranteed to kill you at all. I have seen it, someone jumped off the roof of an apartment building of 5 stories, and survived. Better give people access to suicide pills or guns.

haha no, some but I meant more I like that you can give words a feeling like writing konijntje instead of konijn, you cannot do this in Swedish.
Written Danish is easier for me then spoken. To my ears Danish people speak as though they have porridge in the mouth and Dutch as though they swallowed a fly

Agreed
Why would you write such a horrible thing?
Why do you live in a fairy tale that human life have a value? I enjoy watching people die, it is very entraining to me. Do you even remember how much bread you ate in your life? Wheat is a living being, thus, why do you value it less then human life? Hence, you get entrainment in killing wheat. You are just a hypocrite and you just follow your instinct to value your own species over others.
I thought as much. Thanks for sharing, this helps me to understand some other posts you've made recently.

I think a terrorist would have flown it into a building (which he could do, because he was the co-pilot and could operate the plane) or at least made some statement before flying into that mountain. Seems more like a copycat suicide to me.
Could be copycat terrorism, France hit again. Lone wolves are often home grown so they won't necessarily have Muslim name. No message has been released that does not mean it has been found or it will be released. According to Bin Ladin 9/11 was done for economic reasons and that attack did hurt the airlines. You don't need to announce an attack for economic reasons.
Except they didn't hit France, the plane was from Spain to Germany so most passengers would have been from those nations. The name of the pilot sounds German, and there is no indication that he was even Muslim.
The crash occurred in the French Alps. Not all terrorism is Jahid related. And even if he converted and was doing it for Jahidist reasons maybe he did not tell anybody or put it on his computer. There are legitimate non X-Files like reasons for covering it up or misleading the public. If it is not listed as terrorism and the public believes that, the act doesn't terrorize

I just read on a Dutch news website that the co-pilot who crashed the plane was depressed, and he had been monitored for a while for mental health problems. In his appartment they found a torn up doctor's note telling him not to come to work. Here's a BBC article: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-32087203
I have to wonder if antidepressants were a catalyst for the murder-suicide.
Having said that, depression combined with morbid nihilism can be a dangerous combo that doesn't always require a very convincing explanation. It's easy to say this guy should have just killed himself, kept things simple. But this line of reasoning in itself is rather callous. "Okay, fine, just kill yourself, leave us out of this." Still, rather strange.

I think he was in a pretty awful position: if he told his employer of his mental health problems, which he was likely obligated to do, he would lose his job. Since he was a very young pilot he probably has a huuuuge debt from paying for flight school that you really can't pay off without a pilot's salary. Pretty much a no-win situation.
