So basically the people claiming to love our country the very most are cool with starting a civil war anyway?

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

There wouldn’t be a civil war. People aren’t that enamored of Trump.

What is so great about him, anyway?

I feel like the Founding Fathers would roll in their graves at what Trump is doing.

A thought came to me and I googled "civil war if Obama elected". And many articles from the past about that appeared. My guess is there were speculations of civil war over Bush as well. Especially considering the upset of him defeating Gore in the EC but not the popular vote. Were there rumours about a civil war regarding Clinton's impeachment? Probably.

There seems to be more stirring as far as Trump is concerned.

Even more than when Obama was elected the first black President.

But I believe these are alarmist stirrings...just like before.

I agree emotions are at a more extreme level regarding Trump.

But then again events tend to be a huge deal at the time they're talking place, only to be forgotten about as the next big event or crisis becomes the focus.

I expect to look back on this the way people look back on Y2K. Much ado over nothing.

I would tend to agree.

As Shakespeare put it: “Much Ado About Nothing.”

And they wouldn’t have for Obama or the last 46 presidents?

I think also the number of Americans who don't really care much, far exceeds those who are staunchly pro-trump.and anti-trump.

Has there ever been a violent transfer of power in the US?

There was only on Civil War in the US. It had something to do with Lincoln—but more to do with economic conditions and slavery.

Well it was a violent transfer if you count all the rioting. And all the death threats the electors received. And violent tweets and Facebook posts etc, that landed some people in jail while others got investigated by the secret service

Trump has made America Great Again. Go Trump! I do not understand why anyone could oppose our great leader, President Donald Trump. Trump is the greatest American President of all time!

We've never had a coup d'état.

No President has refused to give up his/her seat; no new President has been prevented from taking his/her seat.

That's the bottom line.

All that Ezra's said has happened in all elections.

Par for the course.

The bottom line is that we've never had a President who won, and who couldn't take the Oath of Office.

Trump is not enough of an idiot to refuse to give up his seat to the next President.

What has this "great leader" done for you?

All he's done, really, is provide tabloid material for the media.
