Hilarious.

All the bitching about how unnecessary and ridiculous a space force would be, and now bitching about not enough initial money being sunk into it. This why I disregard a lot of the complaints I hear about Trump.

This is why we disregard your comments. They make no sense.

I could announce that I was starting a program to "dress up a cow in an astronaut suit and land it on the Moon", and then boast that I have "already raised a 100 dollars for the program!".

You could respond by correctly pointing out that (a) "landing the first cow to walk on the moon is an inane useless stunt", and that (b)"if you're going to land a cow on the moon it would take a lot more than $100 dollars, and it's more like several 100 billion in today's money. So you have a long way to go in fundraising".

Points A and B are not in any way contradictory.

Hey, diddle, diddle,
The cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon;
The little dog laughed
To see such sport,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.

Why would you land the cow on the moon? The whole point would be to fly the cow over the moon. This would be an inspiration to the younger generation that a cow could really jump over the moon and make dreams and fairy tales and nursery rhymes come true.

Back in the Victorian times when mountain climbing first became a thing in Europe a group of guys tried to get a cow to the top of the Matterhorn. Don't know if they succeeded or not.

But yeah, the nursey rhyme goes "the cow jumped over the moon".

In fact...I think that they should put six cows on the Space Shuttle, and put it into orbit.

That way it would be..."the herd shot round the world"!

In the future, SPACE FORCE will be a proud component of the military, supported by Republicans and Democrats.

Trump will be honored for creating it.

Who is we? Group telepathy? You mean you. That nonsensical analogy is what makes no sense. The space force was seriously discussed among scientists and military way before 2016 and was bound to take form. It is a department of ie an extension of the Air Force. It is not something that is being started from scratch.

Most of the hardware and personnel should already be in place. Or did you think the government and military were ignoring all those satellites whizzing around and had no means of tracking and regulating them until now?

Essentially the space force has already existed for some time. It just was not departmentalized like the air force was not departmentalized for some time. In other words the military was already using airplanes before the air force was officially established.

Current intelligence received from our network of temporal agents suggests that this new logo was not "stolen" from Starfleet, but in fact the reverse: it is the source of the Starfleet logo. In fact, historians of the 24th century will identify this year's creation of the Space Force as the date of origin of Starfleet, with Trump as Starfleet's founder. That's why there will be a 30m statue of him at the Utopia Planitia Shipyards on Mars.

The funny thing is Trump is not the founder. He just attached his name to it. Which is why people are flipping out over it. I think if Trump managed to attach his name to insulin or chemo therapy people would stop taking it.

Seriously. The Warner Brothers version of Mars, the Roman god of war, would be the perfect symbol.

I thought his name is Marvin?

Exactly. That's "Marvin the Martian".

You seem to have some kind of problem with that.

Mars is a red dot in the sky. So the ancients associated the planet with bloodshed, and war.

Even when I was a Bugs Bunny watching grade school kid it was obvious to me that Marvin the Martian wore a stylized ancient Greco-Roman warrior outfit ( look at the helmet, the skirt thing, and the sandals) and had red skin on his torso. So it was obvious, even to a grade school kid, that the animators were referencing Greco-Roman mythology when they created that character.

One of the mission of the new Space Force is to develop teams to defend satellites from attack, along with other space-related missions.

The Defense Department released a report saying a uniformed four-star chief of staff would be granted full membership in the Joint Chiefs, as part of the new initiative. The report also claimed China and Russia have developed anti-satellite capabilities and accused North Korea and Iran of developing assets that would "negate American advantages" in space.

The newly created branch will operate within the U.S. Air Force similar to the way the Marine Corps functions within the Navy. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will be kept separate.

Space Force will absorb the responsibilities of its predecessor, Space Command, which was established in 1982 under the purview of the Air Force.

The Air Force currently oversees an estimated 90 percent of the military's space operations, according to Politico. Air Force Academy graduates from Colorado are expected to begin cross-commissioning into Space Force by the spring, with about 60 cadets being chosen to start.

The president said last week, that he will decide on a location for command headquarters later this year. Defense News estimated a new HQ will cost upwards of $72.4 million.

Officials have requested $2.4 billion in funding for the coming year to cover satellites, terminals, ground control stations, launch services and communications security, Bloomberg reported.

The yearly budget, however, could reach $4.7 billion in 2025, according to projections from the White House budget office.
