It could go that way.And then maybe not.
I don’t think you get that we need what we have now.
If your health system is doing so well with low mortality rates and infections why are you so concerned that Americans want the masks for our health care workers?

I don’t car whether our doctors masks are made in Canada or China or the USA or literally anywhere else, only that they continue to get them so they’re protected.

The reason our doctors and nurses aren’t dying in large numbers yet (like Italy and Spain) is because we still have proper PPE for them here.

Why the f**k would I want any doctor or nurse here to work without a proper N95 mask?

And we are in short supply in places here.Whoever is the sickest should get the medicine.

Thanks.
I have 2.5 months of Plaquenil / Hydroxychloroquine, and three N95 masks which I haven't opened yet.

*Please note India's ban is only against America.

I don't understand which way you are bringing up "Net Loss". I see two different ways to question it?

The way that 3M officials raised it to trump when they informed him that if they keep American production of their masks within the USA and don’t supply Canada or Latin America, and in return Canada and Latin America decide to withhold our production of masks from the USA (seems reasonable, no?) then the USA will have a Net Loss of N95 masks because more N95 masks enter the USA from Canada and Latin American production than get shipped to both destinations by the USA.

trump’s dangerous game of trade wars with medical equipment could result in American doctors having fewer N95 masks to use than they have access to right now - which makes it not only a dick move to his closest trading partners, but a massive slap across the face to his own people

Net Loss like that. The kind that would result in more American doctors and nurses dying, not fewer.

If Canada is making their own mask with enough surplus to sell in other country’s so they could cut supply, why do need the us mask?

“How dare he do that”

Johnson & Johnson makes N95.

Considering their debt to society in recent billion dollar lawsuits, I hope they provide them free of charge to all affected countries.

India is the next China, they trying to cover up cases. It’s going get way out of control there, so thst probably has more to do with it then trump using the defense production act everyone knows saying he should.

I suppose he has a right to use the Defence Production Act, but he has to realise its implications.

He imports medical aid from other countries and there will be trade repercussions against America.

Perhaps India has a Defence Production Act too, and they need to protect their citizens.

It's their right as much as his.

Trump blacklisted Indian medication imports many years ago, but now he's begging for it ... while he screws Canada.

Epic fail.

This just in: FEMA reports receiving 10,000 bottles of talcum powder donated from Johnson and Johnson as part of a settlement offer to an N95 lawsuit. :D

I've boycotted J&J for over ten years.

They can rot in talcum for all I care.

I think the solution is to build lots of protective gear & send it everywhere.

Trump seems deluded enough to be thinking that a virus is prejudiced the same way Americans are.

This "businessman" can't even iron out the supply chain of a plastic mask. Did you seriously believe what he said about Apple or Tesla or any other company before? Running a casino chain is nothing like real business.

I'm an itinerant stoner who only works on technology & I could do a better job of this, I'm employed at an international company that is currently 3D printing face shields & sewing masks.

Our business is GPS, survey technology, construction & architecture.

International supply and demand is something this by & large useless pothead has been watching for a decade. Trump thinks demands are the only important part.

Trump looks like a real ass when he does these sorts of things.

The world should cooperate in this.

This is no time for isolationism.

Does Trump have the authority to do this unilaterally on the basis of a war powers document, or is it disputable and going to get stuck in the US court system until it’s rendered a moot point by the end of the pandemic?
