I didn't hear the comments myself, but I would assume Biden slipped and spoke the pragmatic reality, which it is. He should not have.
Agreed.
My CONSIDERED opinion is that Biden was privately briefed on what AAmmeria's position is, but it was meant to be kept classified.
Someone should explain to Biden what "Strategic ambiguity" means.

He was, after all, a major reason there is a coalition standing strong against Russia to begin with. Building that coalition was something that happened behind the scenes, and he is much better behind the scenes. He always has been. He has always been a coalition builder behind the scenes who makes blunders in public speaking. And this was a pretty bad one. You don't give away your soft and hard lines to your opponent.
As a public speaker, Biden is a major liability.
Having said that, I seriously doubt Trump would have given any significant support to Ukraine based on what some(many?) republicans are saying these days.

While Zelinksky is correct that there are no minor incursions, there are also no minor responses. Every response escalates wars, and every escalation costs more lives. I don't know how to draw the hard and the soft lines; I hate war beginning to end; but there are few situations on earth where one never needs to be pragmatic and look at a bigger picture.
Biden was obviously sheeting his pants at the prospect of a nuclear holocaust.
But is it too cynical to SPECULATE that the west isn't doing what pootin is saying?
I.E. The west is using Ukrainian "blood loss" to bring down the Russian Federation?
