The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices on Sunday made recommendations on who will get the vaccines next. The committee voted 13-to-1 in favor of the recommendations, which will now go to CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield for final approval.

Phase 1A: Health Care Personnel & Long-Term Care Facility Residents.

Phase 1B: Frontline Essential Workers and Persons Aged 75 Years and Older

The so-called Phase 1B group is estimated to include about 49 million people, or nearly 15% of Americans.

These workers include first responders, such as firefighters and police officers, educational staff, such as teachers and daycare workers, food and agricultural manufacturers, corrections workers, U.S. Postal service workers, public transit workers and grocery store workers.

About 19 million adults ages 75 and older also are included in the high priority group. They account for 25% of hospitalizations and a significant share of deaths from the coronavirus.

Phase 1C: Persons Aged 65-74, Persons Aged 16-64 with High Risk Conditions, and Essential Workers Not Recommended in Phase 1B

This group includes 129 million Americans, or over one-third of the country, including people between the ages of 65 and 74, people between the ages of 16 and 64 with high-risk underlying conditions like obesity and cancer.

Roughly 57 million other essential workers will be in the group from areas including transportation and logistics, food service, shelter and housing (construction), finance, information technology and communications, energy, media, legal, public safety (engineers) and water and wastewater.

People Trying to Cut in Line to Receive the Vaccine

Some wealthy Southern California A-listers are trying to jump to the front of the line in an effort to get the coronavirus vaccine. Some attempting to leverage their power and influence and others are offering five-figure donations to hospitals to gain access.

Health care workers and nursing home residents are slated to receive the vaccine first. They will be followed by essential workers and people over 75. Doctors at medical practices that cater to exclusive clientele told Fox News that some of their patients are inquiring how they can be prioritized as doses remain limited.

Some attempting to leverage their power and influence and others are offering five-figure donations to hospitals to gain access. Dr. David Nazarian said, "We've had patients offer to pay large amounts of money ... make donations to charities or hospital institutions," he said. "My job is to follow the ethics and make sure that the people who are supposed to get the vaccine first ... and at the same time I'm working extremely hard to get as many vaccines so that once these different phases progress to be able to get it for our clients and patients."

Dr. Jeff Toll, who has admitting privileges at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and whose clientele includes entertainers and chief executives, recalled a patient asking: "If I donate $25,000 to Cedars, would that help me get in line?"

As of Monday, the U.S. has distributed over 2.8 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and some 556,208 people have received the first of their two-dose vaccinations, according to the CDC.

The federal government is rolling out nearly 8 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines this week – between products from Pfizer and Moderna.

The U.S. purchased 100 million more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar announced on Wednesday, enough to vaccinate around 50 million people.

The agreement is the second between the U.S. government and the drugmakers; the initial order was also for 100 million doses, which began to be doled out in all 50 states beginning last week, to priority recipients, including health care workers, top White House officials, congressional leaders and some senior citizens in nursing home facilities.

Under the nearly $2 billion deal, the companies will deliver at least 70 million of the additional doses by June 30, with the remaining 30 million doses to be delivered no later than July 31. The government also has the option to acquire up to an additional 400 million doses.

NYC Health Care Worker Had Significant Allergic Reaction To COVID Vaccine

"With more than 30,000 COVID-19 vaccinations administered in New York City, we have received a single report of a serious adverse event in a health care worker," the New York City Health Department said in a statement on Wednesday. A health care worker in New York City suffered what officials are calling a "serious adverse event" after receiving Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. The worker, who was not identified, is stable after being treated for a significant allergic reaction.

Those seem to be pretty good odds. If I have any concern it is with the second shot. Many more people seem to have adverse reactions to the second dose.

More Evidence of Aerosol Transmission

Researchers in South Korea investigated the epidemiological relationship among infected cases on a recent cluster infection of COVID-19 in an apartment building in Seoul, South Korea. All infected cases were found along two vertical lines of the building, and each line was connected through a single air duct in the bathroom for natural ventilation. Our investigation found no other possible contact between the cases than the airborne infection through a single air duct in the bathroom. The virus from the first infected case can be spread to upstairs and downstairs through the air duct by the (reverse) stack effect, explaining the air movement in a vertical shaft.

New studies show people who get COVID-19 less likely to get reinfected

Two new medical studies suggest that people who are infected once with COVID-19 are very unlikely to test positive again for up to six months and possibly longer.

One study, published Wednesday by the New England Journal of Medicine, involved more than 12,500 health workers at Oxford University Hospitals in the United Kingdom. Among the 1,265 who had coronavirus antibodies at the outset, only two had positive results on tests to detect active infection in the following six months and neither developed symptoms. That contrasts with the 11,364 workers who initially did not have antibodies; 223 of them tested positive for infection in the roughly six months that followed.

The National Cancer Institute study involved more than 3 million people who had antibody tests from two private labs in the United States. Less than 1% of those who initially had antibodies later tested positive for the coronavirus, compared with 3% of those who lacked such antibodies.

Infectious disease specialist Joshua Wolf said the findings were "not a surprise" but were reassuring because "it tells people that immunity to the virus is common."

"With vitamin D, there's a therapy that can be done that I recommend, and it's 1,000 international units (IU) of vitamin D per pound. So if you're 100 pounds, you would take 100,000 international units of vitamin D for three days. After that, you don't have to keep taking those higher doses, but three days of high dose vitamin D will elevate your serum vitamin D levels to adequate levels," Osborne explained.
