Britain has not become racist overnight
I like the "post-factual" description for the current state of mind in the UK.
It doesn't matter what the facts may be they are either ignored or disbelieved as suits the recipient.
There has always been a chronic level of racism in this country it is just hidden now. The cry that there is no free speech and it is "political correctness gone mad" is normally a pretty good warning of what is about to come.
I had to change how I described where I live as conversations went like this:
Q - "so where are you from?"
Me - "Dudley"
Q - "Is that Birmingham?"
Me - "No it's The Black Country"
Q - (with conspiratorial change in tone) "Well we know why it's called that right..."
Me - "Why do you think it is called that?"
Conversation usually ends here as I walk away...

The one very vocal leaver in my office kept banging on about how it was all about Germans not wanting us to buy their cars anymore and how we don't wan them anyway.
Every german car that comes to America is a piece of junk, and after 5 years they all smell like crayons. I cannot stand the smell. When I was employed, people made me work on BMW, VW, and Audi. Couldn't stand it. Over engineered brittle plastic garbage. Allen bolts everywhere, and bolts for tire rims. Stupid. I love the conglomerate mess of plastic hoses, and diaphrams they use in order to try and make something better than a simple PCV valve. It's not! BMW V8 water pump replacement. Remove engine. 2700$. Gimme a break! All retarted!
Now that I work for myself, if some snob brings me one of those, I tell them to go pound sand.
only for 52% of people. I certainly don't dislike people not from my own group, I would happily have higher levels of immigration here, doesn't matter a jot to me which bit of the floor someone used to be on, there are far bigger things in the world to worry about.
If everyone understood the true facts about the EU, it would have been far higher than 52%. So everyone who voted to leave just did it out of hatred for foreigners?
I haven't met a single leave voter yet who even understands the very basics of the EU, the European FTA, the EEA and working under WTO laws, the impact the tariffs can make on international trade and the knock on to our GDP, economy and quality of life. all I have ever heard is garbled messages about foreigners taking away our national identity (although when you ask what our national identity is they can't answer) and how they need to go home.
The one very vocal leaver in my office kept banging on about how it was all about Germans not wanting us to buy their cars anymore and how we don't wan them anyway. The one guy on my street who put up Union Flag's in his windows and a big Leave sign in his front garden told me that on June 24th foreigners were going to be told to leave the country.
Last week a guy was ranting on about it saying he couldn't wait to leave as it meant we could finally start deporting european criminals which we apparently had never been able to do before. I pointed out that we have deported 6500 in the last 6 years due to having access to the European Arrest Warrant, which we lose when we leave. he was somewhat dumbstruck.
I genuinely think there are leave voters out there that base their EU knowledge purely on what The Daily Mail tell them
I haven't met a single remain voter that actually understands who controls the EU. The Eurogroup Working Group does. The whole European parliament is a smokescreen. People like Tony Benn understood this, and you couldn't have called him a typical 'leave voter'. Our GDP is awful anyway, and that's with being in. Being £1.6 trillion in debt isn't exactly something to shout about either. It's time to change. Well Thomas Weiser told Yanis Varoufakis that 'elections cannot be used to change economic policies'. There's a clear plan from these crooks and there's nothing we can do about it while in the EU. Just look at what they did to Greece. They can't answer what our national identity is because we don't have one anymore. These people you're speaking too are ignorant and mostly stupid i'd say, but at least they understand that something is wrong.
Germany has more important things to worry about than cars, as do we. Do you want me to cite some examples of talks i've had with idiotic remain voters? Hypocrites who crow for mass immigration, yet they live in a mansion in the middle of nowhere. We've had a clear democratic result so it's time to move forward.
We should deport any migrant that is found guilty of crime that ends up with them in prison and stop any 'refugee' trying to enter our country.
They probably do. But there a lots of remain voters who just base their EU knowledge from what they see on TV and read in other papers.

Political correctness is mad. And nope, we don't have free speech. The British people have been far too tolerant. If they learned the full truth, things would spiral out of control.

I assume you are referring to British farmers not being happy about having the price of their produce being set in Brussels or taxpayers feeling they have to bail out failing EU member economies like Greece (and possibly Spain and Italy later). Yes I'm sure there are other reasons why Brits are unhappy about being part of a regulated trading bloc. I'm also sure there are legitimate reasons to feel their economic autonomy is compromised in relation to their currency being tied to the Euro.
I am however skeptical if the majority of the British population really took these issues into account (or are even educated enough to be aware of their implications) when voting for Brexit and were more focused on Nigel Farage's racist billboards.

Many reasons, but see my previous post for the main one.
Knowingly as a whole or not, the right decision has been made. It's justice for the 70's too. You can go into a casino and make the right choice without knowing what you're doing. A lot of executives from big banks and globalist corporations are upset about it but i'm sure they'll get by.

The political correctness gone mad crowd are just about the worst group in the UK over the last few years. Such levels of gullibility they allow the gutter press to invent any old story they want on a weekly basis, literally just make stuff up out of thin air and they just look at it, question nothing at all, rant that it is 'political correctness gone mad!' then blame the authorities for the destruction of their once great nation. Instead of realising it was all just fiction.

Really? Not the crowd that sells weapons to Saudi Arabia and Israel for them to blow up schools and hospitals? We need to stop blaming each other and start blaming those with the power. The gutter press have got both sides fighting against one another. It's just those on the 'left' don't understand that, but makes it worse with how arrogant and self righteous they generally are. What was all fiction?
