I meant "pioneer" above, and not "the plaque on Voyager". Carl Sagan was involved with both the probe and the plaque.

The two figures on Pioneer are purposely racially ambiguous (and they look more like Samoans than like White folks to me).

There are a number of things wrong with the figures on the plaque
For one thing the male is the one greeting aliens which indicates the male of out species is dominant while the long haired female is subservient

Carl Sagan himself regretted the figures looked unambiguously Caucasian and not panracial...most people at the time thought it was not representative of wider humanity

Finally the decision to make the figures naked was perhaps the silliest decision given nobody on the planet actually walks around naked

You're assuming that they would interpret such body language the way most people on Earth do. They're aliens, remember?

There were some silly people who wanted to put shorts on the male, and a bikini on the female (because you Americans are just so damn prudish), but apparently Carl Sagan vehemently opposed this because (and rightfully so) he wanted a representation of what we all look like naturally. If the figures had been wearing clothes, the aliens, if they ever found the spaceship, would just have ended up becoming extremely confused, and would have thought that it was an integral part of our biology.

The truth of the matter is that if there really are intelligent species out there, they will do their best to remain hidden from us. They will avoid contact with the primitive, beastly, violent and destined-for-extinction human race, knowing full well that as soon as it became practical the neo-cons in Washington would ask N.A.S.A. to search for fossil fuels on their planet, and then they would make up a story about how they have weapons of mass destruction and that we need to launch a pre-emptive invasion.

The smart thing for them to do is lay low, and just wait for humanity to destroy itself (which should be within the next 20 years or so). They just need to be patient.

I find myself agreeing with your points Lintar, they make sense

If intelligent life exists (which is likely) and they are even 100 years more advanced (potentially up to millions of years) they probably are aware of earth like planets and probably mapped out our solar system a long time ago.

And yes, I don't think they want to send us signals like SETI because they probably look at us a little like a "conservation park" left to our own devices. Perhaps humans appear on their version of cable TV like "animal planet"

To an advanced race sexual reproduction is animal behavior, there are probably more advanced methods around to propogate a species

I personally think we need to dispense of all this talk about an enlightened, beneficent alien civilization contacting us. They would have gotten to be the supreme species on their planet the same way we did - by being the most ruthless and intelligent life form.
