Trump's 'Space Force' Prepares for Launch.
To return to the thread's topic, please don't believe Crimadella, space junk could very easily kill astronauts. The escalation of missile strikes in Earth orbit could prevent all future missions.

This should keep the woo-woo space conspiricists happy for a while: CODENAME: Solar Warden

Crimadella hasn't said anything about blowing satellites up in space. I don't know how it could be anymore clear, Space Force = Space war? No, Space Force = Air Force portions of technology in space. They are already putting satellites in space and we have had them since they started putting satellites in space. The only thing that is going on is the part of the air force that works on satellite technology is getting a new name to distinguish Air Force from Space Technology, they are separating the budget thus space technology will have its own sector. They aren't going to be doing anything they aren't already doing within the air force, all the are doing is giving them their own name and budget, not allowing a space force would do absolutely nothing to stop them, they would just continue to operate under the air force. Are they having space wars currently, blowing satellites up? No, and they aren't going to be simply because their name changed. It's not going to change any operations that are already taking place, they portion of the air force which works on satellite technology will be called space force, that is the only thing that is occurring.
It's the "Force" part I take issue with. Everyone is spying on one another today, that's just a fact. I need solid proof that this supposedly new military branch will respect NASA's experience in orbital flight. If you can produce a definitive statement that they won't be testing missiles, fine, but for now I don't believe that superceding NASA's place as a governmental priority is responsible.
For that matter I'm also concerned that military control over more satellites could hurt the private space travel & communications industries.
We need worldwide satellite broadband a hell of a lot more than we need military encrypted cold war hardware in orbit. Power grabs in null gravity will be met with equal & opposite reactions. Orbital debris is an inevitable consequence of another space race. The "Space Force" to me, represents a tremendous failure on our part to collaborate with the real global aerospace community.

Theyre sending us... crop vandals, cattle mutilators, and human abductors, and...some of them are fine people too, I'm sure.
You mean, the ones known as "the proctologists from outer space"?

I understand your concerns, what I don't understand is why you can't understand what is actually happening. Say we don't create a space force, what will happen is the exact same stuff that has been happening, the only difference will be they be called the Air Force and there budget will remain tied in with the Air Force. Stopping them from calling themselves the space force does absolutely nothing to stop them from what they are already doing.
It would be equal to complaining about the air force splitting off from the army. Will that stop them from making planes? No, they will still make air planes and just be called the army.

Trump's xenophobia seems to extend to species we haven't contacted yet.
Fear is always a rubbish way to make decisions, particularly if you're running a space program.

Trump, just like any other president, doesn't really have power over military. I mean, he can decide on countries we invade, help or attack, he has no say in what technology they create. I personally don't trust our military, I do to a degree, we do need them, but I still don't trust them, from what I have heard they have programs going on with no congressional oversight which means they can do whatever they want pretty much. I kinda believe in the shadow government conspiracy.
I trust our military considerably more than Trump at present. The military actually minimizes conflict as a matter of necessity. Trump makes grandiose threats & demeans our diplomatic progress ever since WWII.
The military was already into the satellite killer missile testing thing, I'll grant you that. I just don't appreciate giving such reckless nonsense its' own brand.
I've seen ICBM tests with my own eyes before. While I may trust the air force more than the President, I harbor no respect for their shared violent inclinations.

And make the Martians PAY for it!
How about we repair there there ozone layer first?
Blasphemy! There's nothing wrong with the ozone layer! It's all fake news! Fake news I tell you! (sarcasm)
