Unfortunately, I'm going to have to ask you if you can at least read? I said to you specifically, about one page back that I was not referring to disabled people.
I'm referring to people whose only claim to fame is their race, or socio-economic status. Color is not a disability, poor is not a disability. Nothing about those two things prevents effort on one's own behalf. So, for the second and final time, I am NOT referring to the disabled.

you are not "getting" what i have been saying, namely that merely to be able to "work hard" one has to have above average energy. to be able to "work smart" one HAS to be smart in the first place. not referring to disability here. i am referring to above average energy and intelligence levels. willpower alone is worthless. in terms of limited supplies of energy, why do you think there are so many people addicted to stimulants? because their natural energy was too limited for them to accomplish anything that would get them ahead in life.
I'll quote him as much as I feel the need to, thank you very much.
Also, that last sentence you mentioned I think really shows the cynicism that many conservatives have about politics. I'm a bit more optimistic than you, and I think Bernie Sanders is really fighting for us. He has shown a real willingness to put himself on the line, like when he fought for civil rights in 1963 and was arrested for it:

It was a figure of speech because I knew someone would cite Bernie, who will remain rich while he robs everyone else. You can cite Bozo the clown, for all I care. Bernie's solutions have nothing to do with personal integrity, and everything to do with stealing from one to give to another.
Taxation is something owed to the nation. It's not stealing. If the nation decides to implement a tax, then that's it.
And how you can call Bernie a clown while you support Donald Trump. OMG.

Among his litany of sins, the six bankruptcies are the biggest concern (yes you counted right).
He used other people's money (often small investors) and burned it like criminals involved in ponzi schemes...little of the cash lost was his own. This also doesn't count people who lost their jobs and owed were owed money in unpaid salaries.
Trump hides his wealth in trusts which his greedy little children are happily involved with. His admirers think he is an "astute businessman" in reality he is a crooked wheeler dealer.
It seems like such a person would be OK with breaking into people's homes, and stealing their stuff.
You mean, like Trump, who is using the Presidency to enrich himself and his businesses?

And it gets votes. "I'll get all those n*****s voting democrat for the next 200 years" - Lyndon B. Johnson.
I'll put Johnson's actions above his rhetoric, especially concerning civil rights.
The thing I've noticed about cynicism among conservatives is that they can't imagine anyone else being sincere in their political actions, expecting everyone to be playing some angle just like them.
I am cynical sans affiliation. I do not necessarily think everyone's actions are disingenuous on an individual basis, but I believe as far as the whole enchilada goes there are a lot of ulterior motives.
So even if there was some ulterior motive behind giving millions of people the vote, and guaranteeing their civil rights, that makes the end result bad?
It shows that there are ulterior motives in the the civil rights agenda as a whole, including presently, put forth by wealthy white democrat politicians. Mainly that it needs to perpetrated to maintain that advantage. In other words racism needs to continue as a major problem.
So am I to understand that you think the civil rights movement and legislation was a bad thing because of alleged "ulterior motives?"
Believe it or not, there are still people who are motivated by simply wanting to do the right thing.
I am saying that it appears that it was as much about getting votes as it was about altruism. And at this point in time it is probably more about getting votes. Thus racism being a problem needs to be maintained. Democrats need that rift.

There was a time when it seemed highly unlikely civil rights would come out on top, and yet plenty of liberals took up the cause. So much for it being about just getting votes.

I doubt that liberals alone made it happen despite their overall self-congratulating messiah complex. When it came to getting votes way back then that was probably something more on the mind of politicians, than the average layperson.
These days it is probably a different story. The constant harking back to the last century, as if to keep things there, is a problem. This is the 21st century. Yet there seems to be a determination to hold onto old 20th century problems. It seems like democrats need it to remain a problem. Keep it fresh. Keep it alive and kicking. Keep us in 1960s/70s square one.
I think what will finally resolve it is when old school 20th century people shed their mortal coil, so we of the 21st century can move on to other things.

Conservatives certainly didn't help with civil rights. Barry Goldwater, though claiming to sympathize with black Americans, argued that civil rights legislation went against the will of the American people where segregation and Jim Crow was the law. In fact, he ignored how blacks were also "the American people," with rights guaranteed them by the constitution, as had southern conservative Democrats of that day. Ever since, the American right has been trying to undo civil rights legislation, including the voters rights act, which has brought about voter suppression in red states.

Red state voter suppression made possible by a conservative Supreme Court is happening here and now in modern times. The fact that the likes of Newt Gingrich and Steve King can find the courage to crawl out from under their rocks to spout racism, while white nationalists commit acts of terror and murder, all the while ignored by the GOP establishment in favor of attacking Antifa and Black Lives Matter as Anti-American terrorists is happening in the here and now.

All by-products of the 20th century generation keeping us in the near mid 20th century.

I honestly can't believe I'm reading this. Low energy? Where I come from, low energy is referred to as lack of motivation, in short 'lazy.' I got real motivated when I got my butt whipped. Please tell me the page in the DSM where 'low energy' can be found? Hunger is also a good motivator... If a person is depressed, that's one thing. There's treatment for depression that should be available to all, when it becomes apparent that the person is going to use 'low energy' as an excuse to not accomplish a basic living for themselves.
* disabled
* elderly
* profoundly mentally ill, those made homeless by profound mental illness
* children of 'low energy' parents until they reach the age of 18
* veterans of foreign wars/disabled veterans
* temporary assistance for families that have fallen on hard times
Those are all the programs that I think a civil society has an obligation to provide. As for 'low energy,' I honestly don't know what to say about that. It's probably one of the most enabling and codependent statements I've ever read. Sad thing is, they will be the first people to want socialized medicine. So, a 'low energy,' ward of the state wants to live forever. Oh boy...
